Line becomes slow after storm

So the title basically says it all.

Before the storm my line is 4meg stable.

After the storm 1meg speed.

Why is this :/

Most likely water ingress into the cable. We have it in Craighall Park.
Lasts longer if the cable is paper wrapped/insulated like ours allegedly is. .

Is it possible for telkom to change the insulation?

Just report a dry joint or tell them you have issues when it rains. They should be able to fix.

I started to notice this problem recently as well. We have a 4mb line that eventually corroded on the connections (due to water). Telkom didnt change the line even though there are visible cracks, they only cut back the connections and then connected it again.

Still sitting with the problem though. A day after the rain, the line speed drops to 1mb and the ping shoots above 500m/s when I try ping Mweb (Mweb is our ISP).
