Hi, can someone please post the link on the Telkom website where I can check the maximum line speed which is supported by my exchange?

I am having some line speed issues wrt disconnects and wants to see what is "officially" supported by the exchange.

I'm a little new to ADSL (ex-iburster) so any advice on stabilising my ADSL connection would be appreciated.

Regards, Rudi

For what it's worth: https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/dsl10checker/availability.do. Just tells you whether your are in or out... of luck... This article will give you more information on the 10 Mbps upgrade.

Don't trust the validator as some people have entered phone numbers that the telkom validator claims do not support 10mbps, yet the lines/exchange CLEARLY do.

It's best to give them a call and ask directly. Can't trust anything on the Telkom Web site as they clearly do not have the best programmers their money can buy.

I thought telkom was loosing hectic amounts of cash?

OK here's the feedback on my issue. When I had the line installed a week ago, the techie that did the install tested the line and said that although the exchange supports 10Mbps, I will not get a stable connection due to distance, copper quality etc. So when I phoned Telkom to activate the line the ADSL "specialist" recommended that I start trying at the highest possible speed, test the stability and gradually downgrade the speed until I have a stable connection. So throughout the weekend I was plagued by constant disconnects with the modem only syncing at approximately 5Mbps. On saturday evening , I requested them to downgrade the line speed to 2Mbps, but the disconnects still persists.

Does this mean that I will have to reset the modem every couple of hours to be able to use ADSL, or am I doing something wrong here? The connection speed (on speedtest.net) is great, when it works.

Please help me, I am a noob when it comes to ADSL and I need to make a decision whether to abandon ADSL and continue with (slow but stable) iburst.

I am with Mweb on a 3Gb package at the highest speed, I think it is 4Mbps.

Why would you choose 3bg over uncapped? don't want heavy shapping during business hours?

I am still testing and the 3Gb package is a cheaper way to test, plus Mweb told me that uncapped is only available for a max line speed of 1Mbps so it really defeats the purpose I guess

Don't know how helpful this is. Tells me I'm connected to a 10mbit exchange, this may be true but I'm still only syncing at 4mbit with gdmt - Telkom website confirms this. Still think the best place to check is here: https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/checkerdslead/

This site is so behind time.
Still says my exchange can only do 4096kbps but im already syncing at 7008kbps

Last week the Telkom website said i could get 4096kbps, which i have, now it says the maximum my exchange supports 384kbps??? Telkom is useless!!
