I have tried them all, including Amarok and all the other regulars. Not satisfied, I did more searching and then installed Clementine.

Anyone needing a proper media player will just love Clementine.

Looks good actually, what is even better, is it is cross-platform, so once you get used to it, use it on all OS's.

Will have a squizz tonight. Does it have a equalizer?
It does. Although I am not using it, I did see it. It has a bunch of presets, and you can set up your own custom ones too if you want.

I just loaded up AH.FM steam into it, and the quality is as good as I like it. 192kbit stream of trance and pretty decent headphones, works wonders for me right now at work :)

I never would have seen it was cross-platform. Had enough of Hell of G8s in my life. Clementine really worked nicer than the others and, if it has a quirk, I have yet to discover it. Streaming radio online also gave me excellent sound quality.

Cool. I will definately look it up then tonight when I am home. I love VLC's equalizer but damn...that UI is so outdated it is not funny anymore. And the skins you can download looks crap and hardly ever works properly anyway.

It's also java based (as far as i know) and eats up RAM like there's no tomorrow. If you want a MEDIA player for linux use XBMC (with VPDAU enabled if your GPU supports it), if you want a MUSIC player then use VLC or Rhythmbox.

Lies. You seem like another person with no clue.

Have a look at the source code: https://code.google.com/p/clementine-player/source/browse/#git/src/core%3Fstate%3Dclosed
Clementine is written in C++.

I will agree XBMC is a great media player, but it has it's use case, so does Clementine.

I find this quite amusing as I originally posted this because someone asked for alternatives to Rhythmbox & VLC. I never had any RAM issues either and my machines came with 1GB and 3GB respectively.
