Well I don't know either, why I'm asking what the can says.
The guide just said they're busy brewing a batch of lion lager when we saw the old Lion Lager signs in the museum, she said they had to do it every 2 years in order to retain the license. I just thought that may be the reason for the "limited supply" at makro.
I think a beer license is country specific, with conditions to retain. So essentially if they didn't do it, Distell for example could take it over and start producing and distributing Lion Lager in SA. Castle and Black Label are obviously SAB's strategy in SA, which is why they squelch Lion.
doesn't make sense, Lion has always been an SAB own brand, not a licensed one. SAB killed Lion because of a declining and ageing market at the time (the rebranding process was an attempt to revive the brand with a new demographic but didn't meet with much luck). My bet is they're doing limited brew trials to test the market to see if the brand has potential again.
