Just got a text message from my SAB rep friend...

We'll be seeing lion lager again in limited numbers at certain outlets for a limited time soon.

It will not be manufactured locally, but following my example, they will be importing it from zim

We already importing close to a million Zim nationals, don't need their beer too.
 
Why import from Zim? Surely our water is clean enough to dilute proper beer with to resemble the Lion Lager flavour? :p
 
Used to be my beer of choice! Tried one this weekend......lost the taste for it :(
 
Grusaurus, Lion Larger is currently being brewed locally at Newlands Brewery (SAB). as per their Facebook page. Its available at Makro countrywide. This is a limited offer and it has sold pretty well with some Makro stores being sold out.

For you #LionLager fans out there: Newlands Brewery has produced a special batch of the beer, brewed to the original recipe.

It's available at Makro SA stores around the country for a limited time only.

Lion Lager is back again

It looks like SAB is doing another limited run of Lion Lager. It can only be bought from Makro in 330ml cans. You may want to call your local store though, to see if they have stock. I got mine as it came off the truck, and there was a queue of people waiting. Lots of people talking about the how stupid SAB was for pulling the beer

I'm quite looking forward to drinking one, I've never had a Lion Lager before. I was too young when they last made it for SA, in 2007.

I thought that SAB had to make it every 10 years to retain the licence. Is there something more to it? Either way, glad to finally get my hands on it.

A case is R160 at Makro.

Also never tried it unti last weekend. Tastes a lot like Castle Lager, but a bit less bitter, and a bit more smoother.
 
I had the OLD one as well as the Silver and Blue Lion re-launch they had. It keeps coming and going from time to time. In the end, it's all just beer :p
