Lion's head full moon hikes!

I bought a energizer (2 modes with 3 batteries) at Pick n Pay for R100.

I don't think you're going to get any cheaper - these are good lights too.

On my trips up at night I found it just fine walking without a flashlight. In fact, it became more irritating to walk behind someone who DID have a flashlight, because they would cause a blinding focal point with the contrast, making it even harder to see areas that weren't lit up.

Since it's winter, you don't have to worry about snakes - even though you won't see them in daylight in summer before it's too late anyway.

I'm glad you're enjoying the hikes. It really was my favourite pass-time.

Voicy, you are correct and I agree with you, but in a group of people, it is strongly advised to have at least 1 person (the lead person) who can see things and warn the back people about potential problems.

It's very irratating in a group of people where everyone has lights on but hey, if they shine it right (down infront of them) it shouldn't be a problem to the rest and ontop of that, it adds to the safety aspect.

While we on it... the next hike is on Friday 4th September 2009.

You must. It's really cool. I prefer going the day after the FM these days though. Less traffic.
 
Resurrecting an old thread to ask .. is the Lion's head hikes still on? Twitter feed is stale so no help. Anyone?
 
Hi guys!

Lovely weather in Cape Town so there is no excuse for those Cape Town people not to come and join me on a full moon hike up Lion's Head tonight.

I'll be there about 6:30pm'ish with some friends walking up, you'll spot me in my VWS uniform. :)

I struggle to do everything myself... My hands are involved in so many groups and Twitter accounts, it's difficult sometimes.

There is def 1 happening tonight - weather not screwing us over!!! :)

It would be useful to post this info a week in advance and not on the day, literally a few hours before ;)
