Yeah - no surprise.
Politicians are after all politicians.
 
The Mandela foundation tries to show that they understand History by saying the old flag was there to unite the waring white population at the time. So is the new flag, it is supposed to unite all people this time around.
But in fact, many people myself included, interpret the new flag as driving a black wedge into the white population to break down any unity that there might be present between the English and Afrikaans speaking white population.

Hence the new flag has absolutely no meaning at all for me -- it is just a bunch of colours on a piece of cloth, currently the flag that SA flies.

The SA flag is a combination of the old apartheid flag colors.

as i understood there was no new flag and this new one was quickly rushed and faxed through as a temporary measure until something meaningful was created, but nothing ever came.

come to think of it... its interesting how this is comparative of so many other things happening in our country.
 
We have more serious issues in this country than a flag that's deemed hate speech(didn't know flags can speak either), EFF is another bunch off clowns, instead of fighting this issue go fight for our rights for a corrupt free country, but then EFF is also more corrupt.

Exactly, A committee of a few rushed to come up with something and chose to use the opportunity to send a subliminal message "We are dividing and conquering"

Well, it's part of my culture that's under threat. I'm not defending Apartheid. I'm defending history and culture.

The 1948 republic's flag? I'd agree with you on the old one you had this morning but what you have on your avatar was kind of imposed, so I'd argue it's not genuinely what one would see as part of the culture. The one you had this morning, yes. My opinion...

Kleinfontein has been declared a cultural village. Also, display of the vierkleur is not taboo :)
 
I see some members have changed their avatar to the old flag, what is the implication for them and MyBB? @rpm @Swa
