LIVE | Apartheid flag judgment

what? so the old sa flag does not have anything to do with white oppressing black? well then, thats what some people are saying, since if you know history, it was not adopted for representation of apartheid. if you would bother to comprehend what i was saying, you would realise that i referenced a few different things that have been labelled a problem for some people, its in the very first line of my post.

but i understand the word white always gets you triggered. its apparent in all your posts.

It was a symbol used by those that oppressed others, they had as much love for it as you probably love the ANCs logo and badge. It simply became associated with apartheid because it was a symbol of the oppressor, and apparently it carries enough symbolic value for farmers to be waving the flag at farm murder rallies.

You literally said "the white people are aiding in their own destruction" with your anology - first off, many white people give zero ****s about the flag and a flag being banned will affect less than 1% of the population, how does the white person's demise have anything to do with this? THAT is the point I am trying to highlight to you. You highlighted people(whites) as being "progressive" and "liberal" are the reason for this problem too, did you not?

Anyway, I didn't get my invite to the pity party with the guest of 1, enjoy it

That is BS. It just happened to be the flag flown by SA at the time. Just like the current flag happens to be the bunch of meaningless colours now used to represent SA.

The 1948 republic's flag? I'd agree with you on the old one you had this morning but what you have on your avatar was kind of imposed, so I'd argue it's not genuinely what one would see as part of the culture. The one you had this morning, yes. My opinion...
The first one this morning was the old Transvaal flag. Also part of culture...... nothing imposed.

A flag is just a flag.
The past is the past - whatever happened happened.
People should stop crying about spilled milk - the past is the past.
Banning the old flag is not going to achieve anything - banning it is not going to change what happened in the past, and will not change the mindset of people.
If the old flag offends you, its because you let it offend you.
Time to grow up - stop sulking - stop being a cry-baby.

no it was not a symbol, its a flag, there are symbolic representations on the flag. it is also symbolic of breaking free from oppressors of south african people at the time, primarily afrikaans people. even then they still placed the union jack on the flag anyway to accommodate others who were related.

there are many other things related to "those that oppressed others" too, will they also be banned because of what others think it symbolises. as i referenced in the first line of that post, which you ignore

and tbh i dont care for the anc or their flag or logos, its their things, they can wave it as much as they want.

again, if you read the first line of what i typed, you will see i mentioned more than just a flag.

there are even more to mention but im too lazy too, while it appears i am wasting my time with you as well since you cannot see past "white".

Wanner slag hulle die springbok?

Then they can replace the national animal with a snake, rat, owl, crocodile, ----- er, maybe they will have problem with the witchdoctors if they choose any of those.
Maybe the Cow?
or the Hippo ---- now this one seems to make sense??
Or a fat cat -----??

Just think of the debating possibilities, we could drown myBB in BS for months.

Maybe be more inclusive with your points and analogies in the future and I wouldn't query them, don't assume everyone is thrilled with name changes, censorship, removal of monuments, etc

I stopped supporting all sport a very long time ago. Back when Jonty was at his prime, Batsmen feared Donnald and Pollock. Kallis made me feel sorry for that ball and we were proud to support them. I do not spend a single cent on sport. Not at a bar. Not at a braai.

Now The Flag.

I was born after apartheid. went to school in the 90's when everything was still good under that Flag. Streetlights were working. Streets were tarred. Signs were present, Even the road-markings were clearly visible and straight. Parking meters worked, Bills were on time. You got what you paid for.

Now you say that flag offends you. Well then you deserve to be offended. You say you are oppressed? Then you deserve to be oppressed now. You do not know what suffering is, But you will. Times were good. You finally are getting what you longed for.

Good luck. May the hunger make you regret, I know you will never acknowledge the good. Now only the bad remains.

I fly my FLAG proudly. No judge can stop that.

What do you think keeping the old flag will achieve?
Your response does not make sense.
The question I asked was about the banning of the old flag.
What do you think banning the old flag will achieve?
