Live tiles vs widgets

What the **** :wtf:

Nobody wins! It's about "look and feel", which everyone perceives and evaluates differently. You can't evaluate people's tastes for them. You have no idea how anyone else on the street feels about their phone's interface and you absolutely cannot make sweeping statements like that.

Don't look at whats pretty. Look at consistency of look and feel across the OS and apps. That can be done objectively.

No no, you are completely right. Different choices by both, different outcomes for both.

Apple said 'fsck off'. They get a stabler, prettier and a more reputable OS out of it.
Google said 'come join us'. They get a more functional, powerful and flexible OS out of it.
^this is the good side of each choice

Apple said 'fsck off'. They get less uptake because of the closeness of their OS, and always a step behind.
Google said 'come join us'. They get less stability, fragmentation and security concerns.

Opinion on that view?

Sales point of view, Google comes out top, every second guy on the street could arguably create a phone with an Android OS.
So yes, in that sense, the Android OS is better.

But for me as the consumer, Whats better?, a functional flexible OS? Or a Stable more reputable OS?
It does come down to individuals again, for the not so tech savvy person, IOS will always be the better option since it just simply always works and is extremely user friendly.
Android is for the more advanced user, who want custom themes and install battery tweaks and what not.
Unfortunately IOS comes at a steep price, but if price was not an factor, i would say IOS should be the more popular OS.

And within here lies the answer we've all been looking for... what is the best car in the world? same argument, no? if you are a soccermom you aren't going to buy a ferrari are you? but maybe you will if you want the fastest, prettiest, technically best?

and that is my argument. not everyone wants 'the best' because it doesn't suite their needs, or it over complicates their requirements, doesn't make it any less the best, does it? that is way android fan boys, like me, say its the best.

what your retort should be as a user that prefers something less technical, simpler, less complicated is: "Yes it's the best, but this WP suit my needs perfectly" Android can also suit your needs perfectly, but, its more difficult to get it to the 'way you want it' stage.

does that make sense? or am i wrong?

We're going down the argumentum ad populum road again, but why do you need to count the previous batch of models with the latest flagship model? Still on the same fallacious train of thought, the Apple is clearly the best phone, since despite its high cost it still tops the list.
Even if you take just flagship models Samsung will most probably win since they make two flagship phones: the S5 and note 3 to be replaced by the note 4. /OT

Why is it a Ferrari and not a Lambo? What are we comparing technically? One might have more horsepower, but one might weigh a lot less. Your measurements are not standardised in any way. You're now comparing a 3310 with an iPhone.

But why do you feel the need to add numbers? Why are you trying to wangle the result? Clearly, by argumentum ad populum, the iPhone 5S is the best phone.

May I ask what ISO-certified rating scale you're using to measure this?

my brain smartass.

is red and yellow the same thing? is yellow and yellow the same thing? think closely now, both very tricky questions.

consistency is not rocket science.

No, you're going down the same road as many religious zealots have. You're overly convinced of your own fallacious arguments, but have little or no facts to prove it, except that you can quote SOME hardware specs which are better than iPhones or Windows Phones. You try to objectify measurements which are by definition subjective (take a course on UI/UX, please) to try and make sweeping generalisations on which interface is the best. It just doesn't work that way in UI/UX. People prefer live tiles to widgets (and vice versa), because that is the best interface that said person could imagine, from his/her perspective.

Why don't you try and find an answer to prove your point, instead of throwing stupid questions across the room to discredit someone else's point.

Because your points aren't worth debating. You're making blissfully ignorant statements about how superior Android phones are to all other phones, ever. You have no real measurement system to scientifically say one interface is better than another. You're making subjective observations and then try to present them as objective.

facts? you want to talk facts? yet you have not provided 1 single piece of it. neither have you given your opinion about anything. you like tearing more into other peoples opinions. this is clear.

people might prefer tiles to widgets, they might not. someone who preferred tiles had a reason which i could disprove with evidence of the contrary. what have you done? Have you stated an opinion and your reasoning behind it? nope. seems like you are afraid to commit to it, so you just deflect onto others.

the whole purpose of a discussion thread is to raise your opinion about something and defend it with reasoning. you like to wait until other people say something, and then tell them they are stupid to think that way, without ever actively participating in an ongoing discussion.

instead of just saying "your statement is ignorant" explain to me why you think so. if you provide evidence that I'm completely wrong in my thinking, show me. Let's chat about it, let's debate it. But no, you just want to say "haha that's what you think? really? that's stupid!"

i also didn't say my opinions where objective. I'm flying the android flag here. You don't like my flag. Don't throw mud at it. Fly your own flag, and show me why your flag is better than mine.

no facts... pfft... show me 1 fact that you have posted in this thread in defense of your opinion about something. o wait, we still don't know what your opinion is....

I never once said you were stupid. I said you had no objective facts or proper systems of measurement with which to make the sweeping statements you were making. Where the hardware is concerned, you compare only the bits where the Galaxy is superior.

"haha that's what you think? really? that's stupid!"

I never once brought your intelligence into this.

You think Android phones are simply the best. The onus rests with you to prove it, not me to disprove it. I'm not in any "camp" of followers and I'm not trying to promote any brand here. I am using an Android phone myself and enjoy some of its features, but slapping a sticker on it that says "THE BEST" is a bit far fetched.

BarOn is just a troll like Lament. Seriously saying Android sucks and it constantly crashes but then still taking it into consideration for an upgrade comparing three android phones and a blackberry? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/623485-Upgrade-time-S5vsZ2vsG3vsZ30/page3 hahaha! What fallacy is this? I'm out.

You have now also committed argumentum ad hominem. Attacking the man, and not the point. The only point you've proven is that you cannot debate.
