Hi Guys

Need some help/advice/recommendation here

Firstly I am looking for a device that I can connect between 5 and 8 Adsl connections on from there obviously i want to load balance certrain traffic and route mail, local,voice etc through certain device for better QoS.

Now I have tried using the following:

1.Mikrotik RB493AH with 4 Dsl connections - got it working till a certain point but could not get the "unknown rule working to forward traffic to a certain device, aswell as soon as we added a 5th DSL connection the Tx stopped completely which doesn't make sense at all and the support on this is not that great with various people diffrent opinions and theories but no conclusive answers at all.

2.Dlink DLM3500 we used this works good but limitation is only 4 DSL connections and QoS on VOIP is shocking sometimes, also had this unit "freeze"

My Question to the Admins out there or on this forum:

Do u know of any cost effective products in South Africa that u can recommend with decent support that will suite our need?

Thanks for taking time in reading this

Regards

If you find anything post the details here. I've also only been able to test a 4x WAN port router. I don't think you get much bigger then that.

Can you not daisy chain the devices?

ie, 4 inputs into 2 seperate devices, going to a 3rd device?

Daisy chain = Networking nightmare

@Davemc

Did that and found interresting company in JHB contacted them for pricing and more info about there products, We have also tried the bonding on the Mikrotik's and didn't have alot of success (complexity of our requirements)

@KobusDJ

Having a look now at Fortigate looks also interresting with there SA support and products

Thanks for good response, if anybody else have hardware/software solutions please post it here.

Thanks

Hey guys

Just some feedback on this:

first yes we have looked at Pfsense and used it before.

But we got hold of the Fortigate distributor and there products looks really promising, support is excellent and pricing good aswell.

Should be getting the unit next week then test it for a month or so and let u all know.

cheers

Just a quick update on this device

Forigate 60B

http://www.fortinet.com/products/fortigate/

1.Support from this company is absolutely BRILLIANT! (Zycko)
2.Device has alot to offer
3.Load balancing/Policy routing working great
4.And ofcourse the ability to use the device in "switching mode" can connect up to 6x DSL lines at once
5.We did not encounter the "session" issue with this device as with Mikrotik (yet)

This is defniately a device worth looking at, with once again great support!
