Dont know if the small coastal towns are effected.

You are joking right?

Richard bay north of Durban used to be loadshed for 4.5 a day on stage 2. Now they changed the schedule to 1.5 hours a day for each area no matter the stage.

So 1.5 is not that bad but it means if there is loadshedding we will be off.....

Here's my loadshedding schedule. Yes, I memorised it!

I only get loadshed during 3 slots:
00:00 - 02:30 <-- Don't care
08:00 - 10:30 <-- Don't care
16:00 - 18:30 <-- Need to inform the wife about this one as it messes with suppertime

Stage 1:

All schedules get repeated after 4 days:
Day 1 of the month: the midnight slot
Day 2 of the month: the morning slot, but I'm at work already when it kicks in
Day 3 of the month: 16:00 - 18:30
Day 4 of the month: No loadshedding.
Rinse and repeat (eg: Day 5 = Day 1, Day 6 = Day 2, etc)

Stage 2:
Every odd day of the month I'm shed during the supper-wrecker.

Stage 3a:
If n is divisible by 4 I will NOT get shed during the supper-wrecker, else I brace myself.

Stage 3b:
I will get shed every single day during the supper-wrecker.

To summarize: when I hear we're on Stage 1, I immediately think of whether its the 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th, 19th, 23rd, 27th or the 31st and start making plans for supper.
Stage 2 is currently fairly common, when I come across an announcement, I immediately think: Is today's day of the month an odd or even number? And in today's case its even

JACKPOT !!!!!!! Cannot believe that I got excited when I scanned the schedule only to find a single blackout slot that will impact me (16h00 - 18h30). It's like winning a mini Lotto!! What the hell has happened?

Some folks get hit 3 times today. No power for 7,5 hours in a 16 hour period.

Note to PE members: I hope you are not in Groups 4 or 5.

My area is listed 15 times, Mon-Sun stage 1+2. Another residential area in Durban is only listed once.

It's FUBAR

I have to slots each and every day, all different times round robin style. So today I am on for 8am-10:30 and 8pm to 10:30pm, tomorrow it will be 6-8:30 and so on. 3 Times a day if we hit stage 3.

/sigh. Turns off generator, power is back on

That's me!

Stage 1 = Nothing
Stage 2 = One day
Stage 3 = Every day

Viva to the comrades living in my area, viva!

I thought I would be kind and not mention the area by name.
I would love to know the rationale behind that exclusion.

My mails to the customer care center have gone unanswered. I mean, what could possibly be strategic about D North, Hyper by the Sea lol.

15 : 1 is just not cricket.

You made a blanket statement

Yes I did...

And I would assume the fairness would apply to that schedule as well..

Its more than likely MORE fair than anyone elses, but still not entirely fair.

I have a feeling the schedule will end up being changed again at some point.. there is an immense amount of unhappiness about it in the Upper Highway area which gets absolutely buttfscked during loadshedding.

I am interested too. On the last schedule we never went off half of the time when we were supposed to, and when we did go off, it would often come back on earlier, and now they have just removed us from most of the schedule.

I still disagree with you If CoCT was implementing loadshedding 24/7 for 30 days then everybody would be equally affected, based on how they've designed it - which was precisely why they redesigned it.

By the way, even though I live in the CoCT I get fed directly from Eskom, hence only ever being affected during three time-slots

My town had no loadshedding whatsoever. Until about a month ago...

The Acacia power statation is on our grid. Couple of years ago they did some maintenance and disconnected the station and town's power from the loadshedding grid. And forgot to put it back on after the maintenance was done. Until some jealous tart from a neigbouring town complained on Capetalk.
Now we have loadshedding like the rest of South Africa. :(

The current Durban schedule is better for us, we were hit alternatively 8-10 in the morning and 6-8 at night every day. Both times were hard on the family for cooking etc.

New schedule is actually worse for me (when it gets to Stage 2 or beyond)...

Will get 8pm - 10pm Monday and Tuesday
6am - 8am Wednesday and Thursday
6pm - 8pm Friday and Saturday
2pm - 4pm Sunday...

Its like they've found some areas and decided to royally screw them.

The schedule in kempton park is a rolling one... area divided into blocks, one block follow the next. Completely fair.
