Load-shedding comes early after unit breakdowns

Eskom has announced it has brought forward Stage 2 load-shedding for Monday evening by three hours.

Instead of 21:00, load-shedding will now start at 18:00, the utility said.

This was due to two generating units at its coal-fired power stations tripping during the day.

At this rate of failure and complete inability to actually tell us the real reasons for load shedding, I suspect that this cycle of load shedding will continue far beyond wednesday.

Don't be surprised if this is the start of a new "normal" with 21:00 to 05:00 load shedding to save on diesel costs because with the increase in diesel prices I think this is Eskom's way to save on burning diesel at 30% reduction each day.
