Load shedding update: Stage 1 implemented

Stage one load shedding allows for up to 1000MW of the national load to be cut, stage two for up to 2000MW, and stage three for up to 4000MW.

STOP with this BS "On, Off, On, Maybe, Maybe Not" Crap... If I can't be sure of what the hell is happening how on gods green earth am I expected to be able to plan anything.
 
Just when I thought I'd be able to cook tonight

Friday, Sunday and now Monday night I haven't had power. Really tired of this already

My solution:

Generator at the ready as are extension cords.
TV+PC on UPS.
Power goes off Genny goes on and power plugs get swapped for ups stuff.
Cable ready for kettle or microwave at all times as well.

My solution is going to be that as well eventually...

But I was quite content sitting at work thinking i'd be able to go home, do some stuff, cook dinner and relax this evening without having to worry about power cuts.

Our loadshedding schedule for stage 1 is 08:00 to 10:30am so that is not to bad

Knowing Eskom though it will be at stage to by tonight.
 
Well that didn't last long, at least we dodged the bullet on the stage 1 schedule for today.

... 16:00-18:30 on stage 2 though, fingers crossed that they leave us in peace.

I keep forgetting we're on the same schedule.
 
How many megawatts are cut again at Stage 1?

I was a little sorry they cancelled the stage 2 08:00-10:30 for today as I spent most of Sunday balancing the load across my UPS'es and was interested in seeing the results.

... don't mind waiting a couple of days/weeks/months to find out though :)
 
Really Eksdom?
No stage 2 today? My offices get shad on at 14:00 and the building we are in doesn't have a generator, so we leave early.

FYI - Shad: The past tense of a Eskom load shedding event when you least need it. Derived from shed and shat.
