Well here we go....seeing that "private networks" are now legal :D or should i say allowed!
Ive been looking at Wifi on a grand scale...etc 60 mile radius +

Shoot kinda busy ....to be continued.............
feel free to post comments and ideas so long.....even though this is a vague
post for now

K so "warez" was i.....i was chilling with a friend of mine a coulpe of days ago chatting about his ventures in creating code and building apps....and it hit me
what the hell why not make a localized wireless "internet"....no charges involved
free connection.....*whispers* no ISP's(TELKOM)......
A place where anyone could pop in and look arount....ie chat,p2p...pc2pc call........sooo busy...damn...gtg.

Anyways it is so possible from what i can tell.........ive been setting up networks(lan's, wireless..etc) for the past six years. This idea sounds rediciulous but common why not!!

Only downfall so far is security...i personaly think its worth the risk, and you never know maby this will inspire some of our local guys to get cracking at making new apps/software to secure this kind of "network".

Heres a little something to ad so long ---> Do a google search for an app called IpMesh , I know that the forums are full of mesh apps but take a look anyway.....

Ideas and posting them are always good for the forum, however, as Izan pointed out, it's in the incorrect forum (there is a wifi forum specifically for this)

Also, I suggest you make time to post, and rather typing that "oh damn I'm busy" post the entire thread without telling the public that you're going for a **** now and will continue posting "brb"

This is not IRC or "chat", so the need to be online the whole time to actually complete a post is not needed. You can take 24 hours to post a new topic, no one (not me) wouldn't care if you took 1 second or 50 billion hours to reply to something, because THIS IS NOT REAL TIME.

So instead of posting (what could have been) a good idea (even though it's on the wrong forum), you just blabbered on endlessly about something and never really made any sense.

ingrish realn it, rike, leary leary fast, mkay?

Well could you delete this post then....or do i just leave it?
And in response to your takin a sh1te bit..im on call 24hrs and its kinda hard to stick around for longer than a few minutes. This idea is kinda styling and i couldnt contain myself when i figured it would also only cost about R7500 to setup and implement ;) ....anyway thanks for the reply and for pointing out that i posted in the wrong thread.

Maybe a moderator will transfer later this evening.. sounds good tho?
But arnt there already a whole bunch of other services like this? Or are you planning to give free access?

Free yes ..as linux quotes "as in beer". ;)
When a mod moves it i will give more details.....

I'm sure this thread will be moved by a mod to the WiFi forum, but don't let that stop anyone from posting - this thread is merely timesharing in MyWi general - no one should be bothered by its location (read as noone shouldn't be bothered by its location) :D.

Private networks are legal. Um. Sorry - did I miss the ruling somewhere? Please enlighten me. I am under the impression that licenced networks are legal.
Ok before i fry my little brain and talk myself into a corner i will
only say that i read online on a local site about a month or 2 ago
that telkom lost some hold over private lan's/wan's or something to that affect...ever since you posted this ive been tearing through my proxy's cash,
browser cookies...etc to try and find the link or a hint of a link to back this up
and i can't find it!! and its killing me so could you rather give me feedback
or your knowledge on this.....
ps. this is exactly why i posted it on myadsl first before trying anything
and also im a tech so all the legal jargon and might i ad spelling and grammar leaves a lot to be desired....

Wanna lay infrastructure, you need a Infrastructure License. (SNO + Teklom.)
Wanna provide a Value Add Service, you need a VANS license.

Without those, they'll just close you down if you become big enough.
But, we're willing to fight them - sneakily.

But what if i dont charge a cent?

Here's an interesting thing to throw in the mix....sounds kinda crazy but bare with me...
I met this guy once, he rambles on and on about all kinds of crazy sh1te...but one day we hooked up for coffee and he mentioned something about a transmitter and receiver device(way before i ever heard about wifi) it sounded REALLY crazy!...anyway i didn't see him for a couple of months but i couldn't get what he had spoken about out of my head it just sounded so far fetched and out of this world, so curios as i am i hunted him down and decided to ask him a little more about it(facts – non facts) low and behold he actually could back it up??? Im not gonna bother with any technical aspects on this but i will say that NASA used it back in the 70's or was it the 60's.
It worked on the basis that you could send data/voice from one point to another in “real time”...yes
you read it right “real time” this isn't the weird part the part that fascinated me was that there was almost no limitation on distance(well further than any satellite could dream).
Just for interest sake the device costs less than R50 to make.(it has been tested and works)
A friend of mine that i related the “story” to said “**** that would ((rock)) but dude would'nt u be assassinated for that kinda sh1te” lol.
Just a thought don't take it to seriously ........ this has nothing to do with this thread. :)

Damn....not much input from users....looks like it would be a waste of time then.
Kinda hoped it would raise more interest.(must be my grammar :p )

Hang in there, the WiFi forum types tend to be a bit shy - they will surface at some point & reply to this thread ;).

more info dude. ..then we can debate till the cows come home ... :-) :D
