Hi all. I am looking for a local based hosting company that can offer Email boxes with an API. I need to create mailboxes on demand via some sort of API, the mailboxes may run into hundreds or thousands so needs to scale. The mailboxes need to be very cost effective as well. The mailboxes will generally be access via software and not humans.

SendGrid with inbound address, then forward all aliases to that address.
I need actual mailboxes to store the emails, not just outgoing.

The inbound address allows you to process and store incoming emails but that’s all it is.
I haven’t seen a mail inbox with an API from any provider.
This is the receiving aspect of SendGrid not the sending.

The local requirement is asking a bit much unless you're capable of creating this yourself. Otherwise just use Mailcheap. You can automate the creation of accounts and most other reseller management functions.

AWS SES. Not local-local but they invoice in ZAR and during my activation I got called by someone in Cape Town.

AWS SES has servers in Capetown. Billing is still US.
The Cape Town location doesn't offer SES yet. I spoke to an account manager not long ago and they said it is coming, but they have no expected timeframe.
