Local Facebook users unite via The Grid

I always thought I was more intelligent than the average Joe, but I cannot get the grid installed on my cell...

Guess I was horribly wrong :D

This sounds scary to me. Stalker...And if you mess up the privacy settings in Facebook you might show everyone where you are?

No idea, I gave up! - uptake is not going to be big if people cannot download the software easily!

Hey guys

The best way to get on the GRID is to use this online form: http://www.thegrid.co.za/competition/

In March / April you can win a cool prize by registering, so that link would be the best.

If you not into prizes and all try the regular method.

SMS “grid” to 33313 to join The GRID (50c is charged for this SMS)
Then follow the easy instruction received via SMS.

Hope this helps.

Btw: stalkers can do nothing with the info, even if they can see you on the map, the location given by the GRID is triangulated using the cellphone towers, this means that it is never an exact location, its always within a few blocks of the real location.

None of the above methods provide a link to download the java app...
I had it installed at one stage, changed phones, now I cannot find anywhere to download it! - now thats a sure way to kill an idea.

Hey Carudden,

Yeah i know how you feel :( I also like the Java version.

The GRID ran an extensive beta testing stage last year, this is where you may have seen the Java version. Thanks to the good beta testing feedback the GRID received the Java version has not been released to the public until the team is happy with it, As far as i know, they are currently working on getting the Java version released and it may be released sometime in the future, no word on when though ;)

The GRID opted to release the WAP version which works on many more handsets and then once the Java version is up to scratch it may be released.

Give the WAP version a try and keep watching the official Blog for details on when the Java version goes live. http://blog.thegrid.co.za/

Hope this answers your question.

Mmmm, most companies that have official representatives on myAdsl are upfront about it...

spacemuis, Yes most companies do agreed, However I am not an official representative of the GRID! They make use of my consulting, Blogging and Beta testing services, the same as many other high profile clients globally.

Because I have knowledge of a subject and provide help to others in these rooms in no way makes me an official representative.

<cough> <cough>
