Anybody have any info on when local is going to become uncapped again or how exactly it is going to work?

I guess telkom will let us know as soon as they figure out a new way to shaft us again

I think they have a shafting-think-tank that has contingency plans for all events.

Revised shafting policy is imminent.

Well, the solution will have to be that they measure it seperately. A solution whereby they just measure 3gigs no matter where you surf and then just cut off your international traffic is not acceptable.

The solution is simple. Ditch Telkom as service provider. Get Openweb. Much cheaper and they dont charge for local browsing after you are capped. Still cant believe Telkom cap for local.

That is exactly what i don't want. They cut off your international access after 3gigs of usage, no matter where you surfed. If you're a heavy user, you'll spend most of the month on .co.za
If telkom want to impose these restrictions on us, they should measure it properly.

Well I believe it is starting already or they are working on it. I've got over 4 telkom 3gig accounts which are all already capped. Over 6gig of usage on all of them and wait for it..........I can log on again with all of them. Last week I couldn't, but now I can again. But the download speeds are very inconsistent so I really hope they are working on it rather than stuffing us with k@k download speeds.

That also happened to me.

I got hardcapped then last week it was working again, I got an extra 9 gigs on my one account,(download speeds were fine though)
but hardcapped again, can't surf local.

I'm thinking they will probably give us local uncapped free but limited at 64k speeds or something.

Uncapped local means no cap on speeds or bandwidth. If either one of them was implemented then it would your service is capped.

just remember that nowhere in the ICASA's regulations do they say that the local bandwidth after you reach your cap has to be free.

someone said that is was meant to be unmetered, which means they dont count it at all.. Which is better for me, cos i need the international for a specific application. But I cant make use of any offers to surf local after my cap has been reached because of the fact that I NEED international. So I would think unmetered means they just dont count local at all as used bandwidth. Am I correct in saying this?

yes you are. the uncapped local they talk about in the new regulations refers to the same as it used to be before hard capping was introduced. ignore the other ISP's cause they just jealous. hehehe

@ Maestr0 - That puts my worries to rest :) Thats pretty much all I want, that and a decrease in price :)

Ok, i want unmetered local :D That will be nice because I play css and need international to connect 2 steam (same with many other games) but i want 384 upload speed to go back 2 what it was. I hate 9-12 kbps upload,,<! It really sux!! If telkom will do that io will be happy :D

Can anyone else log into their accounts after being hard-capped and surf local?

Exactly. But how can they separate the local/international? They will just probably match what the IS accounts do and offer uncapped (30GB) local after your "core" usage is used up. 30GB is nothing to sneeze at BUT uncapped would be awesome.

We must understand that Telkom think 30GB is more than some people can download in a whole year.
