Long service awards.

I am up for a 35 years long service award at my company soon, but I am not overly impressed at the company's policy on long service awards.

In short, it is a follows:

10 years - R2000, taxable.
15 and 25 years - R5000 untaxed.
35 years - R7500 untaxed.
40 years - R15000 untaxed.
45 years - R5000 untaxed, R19500 travel award, booked by the company's travel agent. 5 Days special leave to make use of this holiday award.

Yeah...that ain't happening for me...longest I've been with a single company (irrespective of role) is about 2 and a bit years.

Not really complaining, but just saying that amount isn't a lot for 35 years of loyal service. It works out to about R214 reward per year.

Just got 10 years R5k taxable and we normally get certificates.

The 35 years of salary should be the only "reward" expected.

Who knows why they don't just make it an extra day per year worked up to a max of 10 extra days

To think I was unhappy for getting R10k tax free after 5 years. I'm not sure what we get after 10 years, will find out next year.

Damn that's very nice! 28 days leave is worth it on its own.
