Looking for a decent 85" TV

Saw the 100" version, great head on. Not great on the sides
Believe it lacks local dimming as well, so the screen has a rather white tint to it, there's not much going for it when it comes to deep blacks and contrast.

Saw it at Kloppers, the image was 'meh'
If its your first TV, awesome! But if you have something like the Hisense 65q8600 which has great colors, you'd be disappointed

Not sure, but that would explain a lot, you literally have to be head on for the TV to look good, drift to the sides and the white tint comes through + the colours go off. When standing in front of it, the colours aren't bad and the sheer immersion was the wow factor. But wouldn't touch it with a barge pole due to the other issues.

Wouldn't touch Hisense, if I understood your statement

I'm seriously thinking the TCL route is better, especially the C range (Pro for the C655) - Reddit forums are full of positive things when it comes to TCL and quality control, and heavily against Hisense and the issues they have.

Not all Hisense, but that particular model I'd not ;-). I've got 2 Hisenses in the house now, technically 3 with a Toshiba.

Howdy

Has anyone seen a good 85” tv that has not been discussed here?
I fear the Hisense A and Q series won’t be pleasant as one would hope

Might have to wait until 2025, see if those prices drop to move old stock on U series Hisense and TCL’s C series

I've abandoned the 85" idea and settled on a 75" TCL C755. Will let you know how it performs when it arrives. The 75" is big enough that it's immersive so you may not need the 85" after all, but the C755 comes in 85" as well if you are set on it.

Please keep us posted yeah!!
Would love to know how it performs

Sucks that we don’t get the 85U6N from Hisense
Seems like a great buy for the price

I can find the 75” model(IPS) but nothing on the 85”

Went to a nearby Kloppers in PE, they had the Hisense U7N on display, was impressed with the detail and sharpness as well as brightness, even though its an IPS panel, it was looking good!

Then, spotted two others, the Q and A models, the Q has a better picture quality than the A, A being their entry level tv’s
The only issue I had with the Q series was the brightness and 60Hz panel. The A just looked kak.

So if anything, the IPS 75” from Hisense, U7N, is a good looking screen! Which leads me to believe the TCL 75” C755 with a VA panel will look even better

Received the C755 today and it's very good. Brightness and contrast are excellent. Clarity and detail are good for the size, much better than the led options. The sound is also more than adequate.

There's a bit of noise in some scenes so playing with the noise reduction settings. The noise increases if I increase the sharpness so will have to find a compromise here. Some blooming is noticeable in the UI but not really when watching content.

Loads of settings to configure which will create a different end result. The motion blur and judder settings are a bit strong so setting them to minimum values help. Overall great value for under 20k.

Sharpness will make more noise, drop it down to around a few notches from the bottom.

Build quality? Believe they’re quite good

Thanks for the update

Let us know how it handles sport, rugby or motogp et c.

Do the colours pop as the reviews state them to be?

Build quality is fine and yes the colours do pop.

I watched some rugby and moto gp 1080p highlights on YouTube. There's no ghosting or hectic processing going on. Noticed some lack of clarity tracking fast moving scenes which increasing the motion and judder settings seem to improve. This is upscaling so a 4k stream should be better.

Any suggestions
