Looking for a website designer

The Last guy I quoted decided himself that he's gonna pay me more...lol...

Yes DDV Tech, i'm talking about you :D

lol. Wow thats amazing keeper:)

Anyways I'm not really a web developer. I just "build" joomla sites. Hench the (what i thaught was) cheap price. But i guess people prefer to go to real web developers and pay 6k plus for their sites.

Alas my short career as a "web designer" has come to an end. I will just be building my own sites from now on and maybe some freebies for my friends:)

IMHO, the only way to successfully make a living from websites is if you are a web developer and not a designer. Being able to develop any custom website according to a client's exact needs is where the money lies. And then I'm not talking about your standard "about us / me / my dog" website, but something functional, preferably data-driven. There seems to be a real scarcity in web developers these days - especially ones with some talent, skill and knowledge of the industry. Various recruitment agencies have confirmed this! :p

What do you have to study to become a web developer farling?

There are so many fields in the web industry. A simple website design course will teach you the basics. Then go into PHP and SQL. That is certainly a good foundation for web dev. If you're good with PHP you can do almost anything, or create/build any client specific web app.

You mean PHP and MySQL, right? :p
Another very important part is CSS... all sites use it these days and being able to do it above having to customize every page is a bonus.

Well for linux yes, but remeber MySQL, SQL Server, MS Access, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, and other database systems all use a SQL (Structured Query Language)
http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp

For those not wanting to pay the above people can try there luck at Heztners site builder http://tinyurl.com/68twck
Is that really a big deal? Any decent enough host has a 'good' site builder included in most packages...

Real friends don't let friends use Windows
oh excsue me :D

Just copying what w3schools.com had to say... Besides, it does still use a form of SQL, whether you like it or not! :D

Well I just wrote my MS Access 2007 exam and nowhere could I manually type in SQL to generate my report .... Access will let you view and export the SQL generated, and if you use it as a frontend to MSsql then (I thinks) you can manually type in SQL.

EDIT: But then again who care as long as you can get the job done... :-)

Lets Talk

Hi everyone..

I'm starting a company next year, and I was wondering if anyone here would like to make some extra cash?

We need a website design, so I don't mind if it's freelance or through your respective company.

Basically, there needs to be a flash version and html version (choice from loading screen)

We have an idea of how it needs to look, which i will divulge once I have an interested party :)

It needs about 5 tabs (abous us, contact us etc etc etc) and an awesome front page.
I am assuming you will need advanced flash skills, because the vision behind the website is quite intensive.

Budget range is approximately 6k.

If you are a website designer, or happen to know of one willing to work under that budget, please send me a PM :)

Thanks a lot!

Lets talk, you may contact me on 011 704 7232, we sepcialize in Flash, DB Driven Developmant, CMS and loads more.
