Looking for Android app ideas ...

Was in the Pilanesberg over the weekend and while we were driving around looking for animals I was wondering how convenient it'd be to have an app similar to Waze where people could mark when they spot something like a lion or leopard? Cause then you could at least know where about to start driving around and looking :)

But the challenges with that was firstly there was zero signal in the park itself and you'd only get signal when you got back to camp. So it could be as a "Animals spotted in this location at this time" type of thing.

Anyway...just my 1 thought over the weekend :p

I think this might be what I'm looking for! Thank you.

I might be confusing this with another app but I'm sure theres something like this already. Written by a guy still in school iirc.

I haven't looked through the app store for 1 yet but I wouldn't be surprised if there was 1. Coming up with an idea that no one else has attempted before is increasingly rare these days.

EDIT:

K yeah found 1 in the store already :)

Tbh, I have no idea if that's the same app - just remember 702 interviewing a kid that was still in school that wrote an app like that. It's true though - there's pretty much an app for everything these days.

Do an app for Vodacom to monitor usage of data, sms's and airtime ... an app that actually works

A app that backs up the current apk when installing an update. I hate it when an update breaks something.

How about an app that can use or enable you to use both Wi-fi and 3g to increase you internet speed? Even better if you can choose (when downloading) what percentages of each you can use, say maybe 30% 3g and 70% Wi-fi.

WITHOUT HAVING TO ROOT THE FREAKING PHONE! (but mine is rooted so I'm good :))

3 idea's:

1. Sports rules:
I mostly flip through sports and if something looks interesting, then I pause and watch until it gets boring like, Lumber Jack sports or Rugby etc. While watching these sports I tend to find myself asking questions on how the game is played and what are the rules. This would be very useful when trying to explain the offside rule to your better half, or what the rule is for a Maul in Rugby or why in cricket if the ball hits the helmet of the field side whilst not being worn the batting side gets 5 runs etc etc.
You could also extend this to card games/board games etc. create an open community to build the rules etc.

2. Widget: Switch APN
A simple widget to change between APN's. I use both Vodacom APN and FNB Connect during the month and have to navigate through a few key touches to get to mobile networks to switch my APN.

3. Um Counter
As a wannabe toastmaster, one of the "challenges" when delivering your speech is for certain members of the audience to count the "Um's" or filler words e.g. "Uh". The app will be basically be enabled before speech and count each time a filler word is pronounced and keep track of progress.

Just a few idea's that I have had running through my head for a while :) If you get rich, remember sharing is caring :)

This might be what you looking for https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kruger.live.working or pm me, part of a live group on whatsapp for live updates PB.

Latest sightings by Nadav is what you referring to but kruger only.

so here is an app idea.

one of my pet hates is explaining to waiters what I want especially when they don't understand the language! or it's to rowdy in the restaurant!

so when I'm in a restaurant - why can't I order from an "app" menu from my phone? which will update to the latest when I walk in and sit down. they already have the menu on their tills. no reason why it can't pop up on my phone?

that way we can get done faster... eliminate human errors and get what we want. and the waiters don't have to struggle or pretend to understand any language. they just have to deliver the meal to the right table.

oh and it must have a service button, so when I push it...the sod better come running! Another one of my pet hates.. waving my arms at a blank face half way across the restaurant!

An app to track Etoll costs. Using GPS location it automatically logs when you pass a gantry including time and date.

I need this to know what tolls are private use and what tolls are work related so that I can claim it back...

That actually isn't half bad! Since they took that stupid link off their site, this might actually be a pretty useful app.
