Looking for Android app ideas ...

I'd love to be able to pull gaming stats onto the tablet when it's sat next to the screen - like in BF there's an app to do minimaps, and you can get applets for Logitech kb's. I know I'm dreaming but it would make an awesome HUD.

Here's another idea I couldn't find on app store:

Some way of turning the screen on without using a hardware button. Okay I do have a smart cover but still I hate the hardware power button on this thing. It's so smushy and flimsy. Maybe some kind of gesture on the screen while off, or blowing into the mic, or whatever?

Can google search not maybe do that (by using your voice)?

Hm... not sure but voice isn't the way either. I'd prefer to be able to use a screen gesture or activate some sensor that's still working while the screen is off.

Me too. I think the new LG G2 has something to the effect you're looking for. Two taps on the screen and it unlocks. Not sure if it's the G2 but I've seen it.

An app to track Etoll costs. Using GPS location it automatically logs when you pass a gantry including time and date.

I need this to know what tolls are private use and what tolls are work related so that I can claim it back...
Amazing idea then sell the app to useless Sanral for miiiiiiiiilions!

I have an idea for an app it's something extremely simple but I can't find it. Its a simple widget.
So you know that you can set the Wifi on your android phone in wifi advanced settings to "Keep wifi on during sleep"
1 Always
2 Only when Plugged in
3 Never

I want to leave it on option 2 or 3; "only when plugged in" or "never" and then just have a Widget on the homescreen. Click it once it lights up and Wifi is "Always" on during sleep, click it again and i'm back to "never"

That's it simple as that instead of having to go through the settings menu. A widget like that was available back in the gingerbread days I think.

oOh a contender!
The only problem with these types of apps is that it will stop your device from going into deep sleep (timeout can be set in the above app).

Unless someone builds a very low power chip into devices to handle this type of thing (kinda like Motorola did with the X: always on voice recognition), it will probably have some noticeable effect on the battery life.

how about an app like this (the wincross file) that does wildcard searches on text files.... i add my afrikaans dictionary file and then do wildcard search for the words

would be nice on phone / tablet .....

That should be pretty quick and easy to write but let's see if someone finds it for you in the Play Store since it appears most ideas have been implemented ...

Or a app connected to your gps with the etoll costing to monitor costs.

A Parcel tracking app like parceltrack.co.za or parceltracker.org? Could not yet find 1 dedicated to SA couriers.

So in Welkom you need to sms/email your meter readings in.

What about a app, reminding you to take reading on a certain date, time. then email/ sms it where you wish.
eg water reading and electricity reading. also perhaps reading for car for some other users.
