Looking for cheap ADSL

I am also looking and this is what I've found today for a Telkom tel line rental + Telkom 2Mbps ADSL line rental + 2Mbps ADSL uncapped account:

OpenWeb: R471.00 - Shape based on network demand
Telkom: R514.00 -
Cybersmart: R506.00
MWEB: 496.00 - Shape and throttle based usage history

The others were just more expensive. I am looking at getting the line rentals directly from Telkom so that I can move ISP's immediately if I need to.

Hope this helps.

Try this combo:
Telkom Line: R157
2-meg ADSL line from Afrihost: R149
2-meg Uncapped Account from Connection: R99 (promo)
TCO: R405

Makes good sense. We'll be using it mostly for browsing and downloading, social media and that kind of things. We're not that much into gaming.

Then get a Telkom Do Uncapped bundle and once you have it apply for the 25% adsl discount. I doubt you will get a better package at a cheaper price.

Hi

Hope someone can maybe help me. I used to have Cybersmart ADSL years ago. We want to get uncapped adsl @ home again now but I dont know where or with who. Would prefer a sp where line rental is included. :)

Heyo,

I would definitely go with Afrihost. If you are not going to download much, then maybe axxess would work for you? I dont usually recommend them but I will to people who arnt going to use that much data

Spoke to Axxess and they say they don't throttle based on download history but rather shape based on network demand...so if there is high demand for streaming they will shape downloads.

@ponder - please elaborate on the 25% discount idea

Which means that you'll generally always be throttled because they can't support the current demand.
A close friend of mine has just left them after being throttled to useless speeds at 23gb after 12 days.

Stay the fsck away from axxess, you will regret it. What they tell you and what you get are two completely different things.

Literally just ask over the phone?

BTW - you left out the Telkom R165 for a 2Mbps DSL line rental :)

Thanks Electric - I figured from the poor feedback on them that it will not be a good idea. I was thinking of Openweb.

I'll tell you guys this...I use a 5Mbps uncapped Neotel WiMax link some times...and that thing is sweeeet.

Hi,

I've had a look at Afri-host. According to some reviews they are not that good for downloading... Anyone experienced any problems with that? We're looking @ the 2mb line package as it's only for home and we don't really need more.
