On Vodacom network with a Galaxy Note 2 (Jellybean 4.1.1)
My phone loses network and I don't know about it.

It's happened about three times already in the 3 months that I had the phone.
And according to Murphy's Law it happened every time my wife was urgently looking for me.

I only notice anything wrong when I want to make a call. When I try and dial a number it says: "Not registered on network"

I then have to either reboot the phone or turn airplane mode on and then off again.
Then all together I get 7 missed calls and 2 angry voicemails.

This is really annoying. I don't want to constantly check if my phone has signal or not.

I wish I could live without a cellphone.

PS. if anybody had the same problem, please help me.

Let me guess. Your wife reads these forums, and to cover up your "happy hour with the boys" after hours, since you don't have a single-friend who you can blame it on anymore, you post here in hopes she sees it and goes "oh well maybe he was telling me the truth!":)

hehehe

And that damn Google Now keeps telling me on Saturdays there is no traffic on the way to Teazers. (don't know why it does that, I've never been there before.)

I have the same problem occasionally on my Galaxy S3 using an MTN simcard - also running Jellybean 4.1.1. I've used the same solutions (airplane mode/reboot). I'd love to find a better solution...

I looked on the playstore to find a app that resets your network, but couldn't find any that seems to work automatically.
There are ones that you can specify a schedule, but I want one that resets every hour or even halfhour.

Is the problem with Vodacom or the phone?
My common sense says it's the phone...

Try flashing different modems until you find one that works, really easy to do, just flash the zip in recovery

Flash a new modem and use it for a few days to see if you have any problems, you need to be rooted and have CWM installed to flash it. Had the same problem with my S2, sometimes your phone will go through an area with no signal and lose connection, normally it should reconnect as soon as there's signal but with a bad modem it doesn't and you sit with no signal until you restart.

Yeah I've thought about doing that. Can anybody recommend a good modem for MTN in SA?
I currently have XXDLID on my S3.
