Today, my Cell C LTE bundle stops working. Bought on the 5th of May last year.

Tried to log into Cell C MyTools, and get told "Hello, raymond. You are not allowed access to this service because your subscription is not Active"

My name isn't raymond, so I assume this is the half assed fix they did for the fix or my LTE bundle number has been allocated to someone else already.

Call 140, service has been suspended. They are saying the thing was never RICA'd. WTF. And now it belongs to someone else that RICA'd the sim. Still has my email address, but that's it. I now need to go to Cell C with all my receipts and proof of residence to try and get my number and data back.

Cleo David tried to help me, but it seems that they cannot do anything on the helpdesk.

Cell C, you are disappointing.

I had a similar issue and it is known to CellC. Just go into the store you got the LTE bundle from and get them to update the details.
Mine expired after 3 months and was also one of the preregistered SIMs.

Will go this weekend if the Cell_C rep cannot assist. At least this looks like something they are used to doing.

Yip. I recall them taking my details down to RICA the SIM but they did not seem to have my details according to the call centre. Was really pissed off after the call with the Call Centre as I they needed me to prove that I did buy the bundle using my receipt which I could't find. But when I called the store they seemed to know about this and asked me to come in and took down my details. It took a day because I went there late evening and their call centre was closed.

My SIM was registered to one Erasmus and the SIM registered to have been sold there, lol.

Same with me. Raymond Raymond and some Erasmus owns my sim now. Did you buy it from La Lucia Mall in Durban by any chance?

Hi whatwhat. Your sim is active. Please retry let me me know. *DM*

Still not working.

According to the helpdesk, my sim that I bought in May 2013 and have been using since May 2013 was re-purchased in December last year and not RICA'd.

This was a 100Gb LTE dongle bundle, and I've now lost the 80Gb that was remaining on it. Cell C so far (a week later with me calling them every 2nd day) is not able to tell me what happened, or that they can fix this. Just that I need to wait and they will call me.

To say that I am miffed is an understatement.

Hi whatwhat, the data has been loaded, please check and let me know. *DM*

I just want to say thank you to *DM* for helping with this. I hope that the sim stays trouble free until the expiry date.

While this was resolved, it's quite worrying it even happened in the first place :erm:

@DM: What's the standard time a cell number has to wait before it's recycled?

Cell C and MTN recycle numbers very very fast. Something like 2 or 3 months if its that long. I noticed when I left a Cell C sim for 3 months when switching it on the number was disconnected and recycled... Vodacom only recycle numbers after 7 months of no activity at all. Meaning 1 received call will count where with Cell C and MTN if you don't make the chargable call it gets disconnected. Receiving calls does not count.

Wut!? What happened to the advertised "number for life"??

The only diff is mine is in a mifi device that is powered on every day. And has been since May, so there hasn't been a reason to shut it down. Also no way to make or receive calls.

Oh well.

Oh, well. You have complained about Cell C service delivery since February last year (Full signal, no throughput!!!). So why it happened that you decided to buy very large package at first place?
I don't argue, there was no reason to shut it down. It happens.

 CellC is offering LTE.... Since when? is it for special customers only?
