Hi Guys,

I'm planning on buying the Mikrotik LTE Outdoor Router to use with a Telkom Sim and the 2TB data package. The only problem is I dont have Telkom LTE coverage in my area. What is going to happen? Will my system be unusable or will I at least get 4G speeds? TIA

the old packages didnt allow you to go to 4g this one seems fine on 4g

I would highly suggest you pick up a prepaid sim and convert it to the SmartBroadband Prepaid Wireless tariff plan. Load R50 3GB and test it out. When signing up, Telkom will inform you that you're not covered. If you take the package regardless, and then discover you have zero Telkom coverage and decide to cancel you will still have to give a month's notice. I've been in the store when this happened to another customer. Roaming is not allowed on the 2 TB deal.
 
Ok. What is the next best thing when living on a farm? No fibre,no dsl. Only wireless internet at rediculous prices and satellite internet and I'm not allowed to stream (also riduculous prices).

Do you have MTN signal?
 
We've got a small community of probably 10 000 people. The fibre cable into the actual community was laid halfway. We still need about 10km of fibre to get to the houses. There is no more funds for the fibre cable to be completed. Any suggestions please?
 
I think I'm going to try this first. What bothers me is the roaming part. I do get 4G LTE on my Vodacom sim, but the online coverage map says no LTE in my area. I don't know what to believe. I'm not sure if Telkom is piggy backing off Vodacom or MTN's tower. I'm not even sure if Telkom has got their own tower in my area. I'm confused by this whole thing. It looks good.Maybe I want too much, but I dont like the whole FUP thing. I used about 1.5TB a month with the VOX DSL uncapped plan.No FUP. We use the internet for the televisions(4), all the cellphones and tablets and my CCTV system,tv boxes,laptops. The Telkom 2TB package is perfect, but LTE is a problem.

Hmm did Telkom discontinue the VDSL service? If you get a prepaid Telkom sim you’ll quickly figure out if the Smartbroadband Wireless plans would work. Did you check SuperSonics website for Airfibre?
 
No luck. I've purchased 3+3GB Telkom LTE Bundle-No Internet and Supersonic-No Coverage in my area. I think I'm screwed here.

Maybe get a higher package.
