2025 Lucid Gravity Is Queen Of The Electric SUVs With A 440-Mile Range

The Gravity has a frunk you can sit in and a starting price of under $80,000.

Californian startup Lucid took a bold approach for its introduction to the world, launching in 2021 with the phenomenal Air, a large electric luxury sedan that entered a small, competitive segment of the auto market. Despite garnering tons of acclaim—including from me—the Air has been a slow seller and the brand has been losing a ton of money. Enter the new Lucid Gravity, a three-row SUV with super promising specs that will hopefully turn the company’s fortunes around.

Surprisingly, the Gravity rides on a totally new platform that was developed specifically for SUVs instead of just sharing the Air’s architecture. It also uses next-gen versions of Lucid’s motors, which are the most power dense production units in the world, and an updated 900-volt electrical architecture. In its top trim Lucid says the Gravity will hit 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, have a payload capacity of more than 1,500 pounds and be able to tow at least 6,000 pounds. There’s an optional adaptive air suspension package that Lucid calls Zero Gravity, which will have manual height adjustments to assist with off-roading.

Lucid Gravity

Lucid Group, Inc. is redefining excellence once again with the reveal of the groundbreaking new Lucid Gravity luxury electric SUV. Lucid's highly anticipated Gravity SUV builds upon the innovations first seen in the Lucid Air sedan to create a luxury electric SUV without compromise: a high-performance vehicle with space for up to seven adults and their gear and a projected driving range in excess of 440 miles. The Lucid Gravity SUV made its public debut during the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, with production starting in late 2024.

"The Gravity SUV represents a significant leap forward for Lucid's world-leading technology and design. Customers will find an unprecedented combination of space and maneuverability, luxury, and versatility, all seamlessly integrated into one remarkable vehicle with the driving experience and range of a true Lucid," said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO at Lucid. "Lucid's innovative proprietary EV powertrain technology and our holistic approach to vehicle engineering already enabled the Air sedan to redefine what was thought possible from a luxury sports sedan. With Gravity, these innovations evolved and our next generation technology is applied with even greater effect, resulting in an electric SUV that can achieve over 440 miles of range with a battery pack a little more than half the size of some of our battery-hungry competitors."

Gravity Design: A Balance of Form and Function

"At Lucid, we believe in pushing the boundaries of design. We have leaned into this belief to maximize spaciousness, aerodynamic efficiency, and utility, resulting in an electric SUV with a previously unseen blend of attributes," said Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand at Lucid. "Whether it's a cargo-swallowing SUV for family camping trips or a long-range grand tourer covering hundreds of miles between stops, Gravity is designed to be versatile. Our team's dedication to creating an SUV that seamlessly fuses form and function has resulted in a vehicle that's visually striking, incredibly versatile, and provides an elevated luxury driving experience."

Lucid Gravity SUV debuts with 800 hp, 708 km range

Lucid Motors, a trailblazer in electric vehicle technology, has finally unveiled its second car - the 2025 Lucid Gravity. The electric SUV promises over 708 km of EPA range and performance to set a new benchmark in the segment.

The Gravity boasts a sleek silhouette, with the raked roofline merging into its tail spoiler. This design enables a drag coefficient of under 0.24, a great feat for an SUV. The Gravity seats up to 7 people and measures 1,656 mm in height, 1,999 mm in width and 5,034 mm in length. The wheelbase measures 3,035 mm.

The Gravity is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive platform, similar to the Lucid Air models. The different versions weren't detailed, but the top spec was confirmed to output over 800 hp and do the 0-97 km/h in less than 3.5s.

The battery capacity is also unclear yet, but it will use a 900-volt architecture that lets you recharge 322 km of range in 15 minutes.

Lucid's electric pickup truck is a potential Tesla Cybertruck rival

Lucid Motors, the California-based electric vehicle manufacturer known for its stunning designs and impressive tech, might be taking on Tesla Cybertruck with a pickup truck of its own. While details are scarce, a recent sighting of a clay model has sparked speculation about Lucid's plans for the future.

The full-size clay model, photos of which were shared on the Lucid Forum, exhibits design elements reminiscent of the company's Air and Gravity models. The truck features minimalist headlights, a sleek front bumper, plastic body cladding, and streamlined bodywork. The rakish windscreen seamlessly connects to a glass roof via a black band, giving the truck a distinct look. Additionally, it sports a traditional six-foot bed, providing practicality alongside its futuristic design.

Lucid Motors has been tight-lipped about this mysterious pickup, but previous presentations suggest that it's part of the company's ambitious plan to offer a diverse range of EVs by 2030. This lineup includes a coupe, a pickup, as well as "premium" sedans and SUVs. While there's speculation that one of these models could arrive as early as 2025, it's essential to note that the production of the Gravity SUV is scheduled to start in late 2024 and it will keep the company very busy.

When this Lucid pickup eventually hits the market, it will face stiff competition from other EV manufacturers. The Rivian R1T and F-150 Lightning are already established players, and the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra EV and Ram 1500 REV are also vying for a piece of the electric pickup market. Let’s not forget about the Cybertruck which is going public this coming week and is bound to leave its mark on the market.

Lucid Motors unveils 2024 Air sedans with lower prices

Lucid Motors has revealed its 2024 model year Air sedans. These new offerings come with a lower starting price and more customization options, hoping to attract a wider audience.

Lucid Motors has been making waves in the EV market with its innovative technology, but it's been facing challenges in attracting a wider audience. The Q3 report showed widening operating losses, prompting the company to implement a referral program to boost demand. However, November marked a significant milestone for Lucid as it launched its second model, the Gravity SUV, which has the potential to become a hit in the United States.

With the Gravity slated for production in late 2024, the Lucid Air sedan remains the company's only offering for the time being. To boost sales in the coming year, Lucid is updating its range and introducing its most affordable Air models to date.

The 2024 model year Air sedans provide customers with more choices and flexibility when configuring their vehicles. This applies especially to the lower-end Pure and Touring versions. Some previous Air versions have been discontinued, while the existing trims now offer some of their best features as standard or optional add-ons.
