Um, correct me if I'm wrong but when you deliberately break the rules in any sport and indeed in life to benefit yourself or others of your choosing it's called cheating.

If that's what you want - and then every player ever involved in giving away a foul is a cheat. So why single out Saurez?

Cheats off the field? - good place to look is in the England camp. But I suppose cheating on a spouse isn't against the laws :)

And if Saurez was a nice person he wouldn't be playing soccer (unless he was German or Gary Lineker). :p

Yes... why is this so hard to understand?

Deliberately breaking the rules to gain an advantage is cheating. simple.

Suarez has been singled out because his particular offense was so pivotal to the game in question (it would have been a goal, or Ghana could have hit it again on the rebound).
Most other offenses are on the field and are not as consequential as this one was.

Not so - Spain are still in.

The laws are quite simple, and they take into account the consequence. It was a deliberate handball in the penalty area that prevented a goal. Sanction - red card and a penalty.

As per fifa rules, it is NOT defined as "cheating" for handballing a ball, be it on or off the pitch.

So if you want to argue go argue with FIFA, write them a letter or start a petition and tell them their RULES are CHEATING!

Wow you seriously want to do this? The rules are stipulated in the laws of the game. So in essence by your definition every Cricketer, footballer, Rugby player, that commited a foul which broke the rule is a CHEAT?

The Springboks cheated to the finals of the World Cup because they broke the rules and gave away a FOUL?


Ghana also CHEATED cos they commited 23 fouls which means they are CHEATERS? Being offside = cheating because they broke the rule to be offside! Tackling a player fouling him in the process is CHEATING cos you are not allowed to FOUL a player?

Well yes, they broke the rules, so according to the definition of the word, its cheating. Hence the opposing team is awarded a penalty. If the offence is significant enough in rugby, it could result in a red card, or even a penalty try. We usually dont use the word cheating, since no fouls in rugby are usually as serious as this.

This offence was serious enough to warrant more than a red card, IMHO.

What do you mean thank you. You do get unintentional handballs too.

And it really doesn't matter what he admits to - it doesn't make it cheating. Just poor form.

Hence why there's calls to revise the rules and introduce tv replays but perhaps everyone is condeming the wrong person... shouldn't you be pissed with the RULES and the People who made the rules?

If I recall correctly Rugby never use to award Penalty tries... that was introduced with a change in the rules...

You do get cheating in rugby - thinks of one of those Heinken Cup games where Dawson slaps the ball out of the hands of the opposition scrummie at a scrum. Ref saw squat. That's cheating.
