Luis Suarez is a piece of ****!

Wow you seriously want to do this? The rules are stipulated in the laws of the game. So in essence by your definition every Cricketer, footballer, Rugby player, that commited a foul which broke the rule is a CHEAT?

um yes.. if they were deliberate attempts to alter the game at crucial points in the match.

If I recall correctly Rugby never use to award Penalty tries... that was introduced with a change in the rules...

Must have been a helluva long time ago, it's been around as long as I can remember.

They just don't use it a lot, but this footbal incident would have been a perfect application.

1958/59

From 1851 to 1958 is a long time but it's a move in the right direction...

Fifa rules? Hasn't changed much... plus the failure to introduce TV replays and goal line technology means the failure is FIFA's fault!

It shouldn't matter when it is done the intention is to influence the end result of the match. So if you call Suarez a cheat for the handball then everyone else breaking a rule in a game is a cheat as well since something done in the 5th minute of the game could have a bearing on the final result.

Well he is a cheat, because he broke rule y doing what he did. Everyone else who breaks a rule on purpose is a cheat. Do I mind it though? Not really... it happens and when it does the player will invariably be punished and that's that. Games are won by scoring goals and if you lost to a decision then you didn't too well in the goalscoring department no did you?

Another questionable thing with the missed penalty was that there was encroachment by the Uruguay defenders and Ghana should have been able to take the penalty again. There is a lot wrong with this world cup. Luis Suarez ensured that it is definitely not the beautiful game, more like the dirty, diving, cheating game.

Precisely. He most definitely brought the game into disrepute and should be made an example of by FIFA, that is if their Fair Play code of conduct is to be taken seriously.

It was worse in the spain vs paraguay game but another reason why referees can't do their job( I'm 100% sure fifa know that)
Uruguay are almost certain for a 3rd/4th place playoff, at least it was punished.
Anyway I'm looking forward to watching Forlan play again and again because he's been on an increasing performance since he left ManU.

Forlan has been awesome. Saurez is by no means the entire squad of Uruguay, I'm not saying punish Uruguay but at least suspend the culprit, Saurez, for a specific time, such as 6 months or so. Uruguay has played well and as far as I'm concerned are very dangerous. Don't underestimate them or you will find yourself going home. But Saurez is an ****** and that in no way detracts from the rest of the team.

I was thinking that when I saw Abdul Keita's acting that convinced the referee that ***a injured him, although it was nothing like a stopping a goal being scored at the time I thought he should be banned.
It dawned on me quite soon that FIFA's rules allow for that and the player knew what he was doing and escaped.
It's the rules that need changing, bring LBW(soccer version) even, either way Uruguay are through.

Yip. And I hope that Uruguay are not thought of badly by soccer fans as even though one of their players cheated the rest of them are good players and I will be supporting them in their game ( I always support the underdog). FIFA should really rethink their rule book especially when it comes to theatrics, some of the players deserve Oscars.

It's the FIFA rules, and you can see by this video in 2006 that they haven't moved on(@ 0:35)

At least he converted, Gyan failed on that.

Players will always try to take advantage by diving, using "unintended" handballs and trying to persuade the referee because they can get away with it.
"Cheaters" can win in soccer and Italy did it in 2006 but I'll still say they are the champions and not France and they were the best ( Ghana failed at the penalty but Italy didn't )
