Lumia 1520

The Lumia 1520 is too awesome. You don't need to put it in your pocket. I've had it since December and I can't use a small phone anymore.

Same here, bought a LGG3 for a test and sold it again after 2 months. Lumia 1520 is the best phone I ever owned

The recent Cell C / BlackBerry ads campaign just accentuates the real reason why WP / Nokia is not picking up.
Bb realises the power of advertising /Cell service provider partnerships

MS marketing sucks!!

There seems to be an assumption people will just try it.

I've had the 8.1 Dev Preview installed since the day it came out. It's Cyan I'm waiting for. Very irritating as I want to use Miracast.

I've got Denim on the 920 (below), but it's the blerry 1520 I want at least Cyan on.

That's a bug in extras+info, not real denim. Why don't you use the software recovery tool? Cyan should be available for all SA models.

My phone updated last week. Biggest improvement is on battery life. No idea what was updated but my battery now lasts 30% longer with no change in how I use the phone.

Arthur sorry to hear of your 1520 update problems. I will share my update experiences with my old 920 and new 1520.
My old 920 was known as an (Country Variant) by the IMEI number and I had to request my network provider to "sanitise" the IMEI on their system. After this operation I received auto update notifications etc.
My 1520 was obtained from my network provider and had no auto update notification issues, but I hasten to add did NOT make use of any PREVIEW updates at any stage. In preference waiting for the official updates Cyan & Black etc.
I am of the view that PREVIEWS are the root cause of update issues, others may well differ but they are fully entitled to theirs.
Lastly Arthur I suggest that you take your 1520 to a Nokia Service agent and allow them to put CYAN on your phone. The 1520 is an remarkable device in many aspects.

In the same boat. Also installed the preview and also no cyan update. Arthur please let me know if and when you find a solution.

Thanks, Ivanr. Yes, I called the nearest Nokia/MS Mobile service centre (Cape Town) and they said they could do it. But it's five hours away (one way) by car. Surely in this day of pervasive electronic comms there's a way to do this without schlepping my carcass nearly 1000 kilometres there and back. Frustrating.

Reside in Pta and there is a service agent in Hatfield. Will try them tomorrow.

Sorted via service agent
Happy to see your problem has been resolved.
After reading/studying the T&C "fine print" of all PREVIEW releases I am convinced that my stay away from these offers has been a solid decision in avoiding a repeat of your update problems in my view, others might differ but this is their right.:)

Think you right. On some forum some of the posters also speculate that the preview can cause problems with future updates. For what it's worth the service agent did it for free
