Lumia 920 Thread

Lol, what are you people doing to make it restart?
I've yet to have one on either of my 920's?

Please post yours (settings->about):
OS version: 8.0.9903.10
Firmware revision: 1232.2109.1242.1002
Hardware: 1.0.0.0
Radio: 1.0.202041.3
Chip SOC: 8960

I have had two freezes, both during the night while I was sleeping (had to do soft resets in the morning--luckily I wasn't depending on the phone for a wake up alarm!), and today the first reboot was while I was composing an email, and the second while I was reading a book in Kindle in the queue at the bank.

OS version: 8.0.9903.10
Firmware revision: 1232.2109.1242.1001
Hardware: 1.0.0.0
Radio: 1.0.202041.3
Chip SOC: 8960

Exactly the same as yours, except for the firmware revision.

Where did you get the 1002 firmware?

I have the exact same settings and do not suffer any reboots. So I ask the same as Roguemat. What are you doing to evoke this re-booting?

If he knew, he most probably would have told you already. :wtf:

If you've experienced crashing maybe it would be worth listing every app you have installed, and listing every active background task (settings-> slide to applications -> background tasks)?

I will install all the apps listed and see if I get the same - although it's 99% going to be one of the background tasks.

I reread this post and can't actually believe that you posted it.

Can you please tell me who on this planet can possibly benefit from your "I do not suffer any reboots" reply. Wow, aren't you the lucky one! You got the perfect phone!

And you're basically telling him that the reboots are his fault, which is just plain stupid. If it's a app that is malfunctioning, then the OS should force close the app, not the user! And there are many reports of spontaneous reboots from Windows Phone 8 devices on the interwebs, so I highly doubt if it's his fault!!

Now apologize to him, cos you're giving Windows Phone 8 users a really crappy name.

You should take a look at the WhatsApp thread

Are people now blaming WhatsApp for the reboots? LOL

How much time did WhatsApp have to create a proper working Windows Phone 8 app? Didn't Microsoft keep the devs in the dark till the last moment?

Nevermind WhatsApp, Windows Phone 8 is doomed without proper Google support.

Which I doubt will happen anytime soon.

At the time of the first freeze, I had the following installed:

- Amazon Kindle
- Board Express
- Evernote
- SkyDrive
- Twitter
- Whatsapp

I have installed some other apps since then, but those were what I had at the time it first froze.

Right now, my background tasks are as follows:

- AccuWeather
- Evernote
- News24
- Nokia Drive+ Beta
- Weather

Others that may run in the background under "Advanced" are:

- extras+info
- News24
- Nokia Music
- Skype
- Whatsapp

As kingrob says, however, even if it is a rogue app causing the freezes/reboots, that's still an MS issue. A problematic app should shut down, as it does on iOS and Android. It shouldn't lock/reboot the entire OS.

Edit: And I'm aware that of the potential Whatsapp issues. Still doesn't mean that MS should wipe their hands clean of allowing a rogue app to shut down the entire OS.

Hey Guys overall experience of 920 compared to previous phone (and perhaps developmental state of WP8 and apps)?

Whats your overall recommendation?

Still buy it?

Despite the very positive experiences of roguemat and Ivanr, I would caution against early adoption of a Windows 8 phone until this freezing/rebooting issue is resolved. Coming from iOS, I love Windows Phone 8 so far. I have found most of the apps that I require (though those invested heavily in Google's official apps will want to steer clear for now) and I have enjoyed the way it all works. The freezing/rebooting is a big issue, however, though I am determined to see it out till SA gets the update that is being pushed out to see if it resolves the issue.

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and I'm very impressed with it.

My 920 hasn't rebooted or froze since I got it.

There are plenty of apps available already and many more are being developed so it's just a matter of time before everyting you want it there.

My previous phone was the Nokia N8, which was an excellent phone, but compared to this, it's slow :p The Lumia is really fast and everything happens smoothly.

I agree, its been like this for a while though. It must be our fault the phone reboots, it must be all the thousands of users fault, and not the phone.

I also have 01 firmware, reboots seem to have calmed down quite a lot. Only had 1 in the last week.

Has anybody tried to update their phone to 1232.5951.1249.1001 or 1232.5951.1249.1002 using NaviFirm.
Was wondering if it helps with the reboots, and what "new" features where added.
