Lumia 920 Thread

Is anyone having a problem copying text on the 920?

I can select one word at a time. I get the bubbles at the end of the word but cant drag them to expand the selection? I've been trying now for 30 minutes with no luck.

Another annoyance is editing one letter in a word, Android you have arrows that lets you navigate character by character, i find if you spell a word incorrectly on WP8 the easiest way to correct it is to retype the entire word?

Hold down for a second then a cursor will pop up and you can place it where you want to edit the word.

In internet explorer you are able to change the refresh button to a tabs button to easily close tabs and exit the browser.

What's with wanting to exit applications?

If you switch out of the application it gets suspended and no longer runs in the background.

My wife just got her 920 2 days ago. She loves it coming from BB9700. There is a few niggles, has to do with looking for certain things. She is getting the hang of it. She had no restarts "yet".
I have an S3 and must say, IMO, the S3 is miles better in functionality and ease of use. The 920 is also quite a bit heavier.

My wife has to charge her 920 every day, sometimes twice(But again, she uses it a lot, it's new after all :) ). My S3 lasts between 2.5 and 6 days, depending on usage.

We will see how it goes.

Got myself a soft'ish rubber/plastic case from the boksburg flea, and it only cost me 50 madibas :D

Good move
Cracked my screen today :(

Busy phoning around to get quotes on repairs, the incompetent knobs at Vodacom claim the entire lcd needs to be replaced too at a total cost of R2800.00 .. which is bull**** you can get the glass by itself for 50$ online
Might just try to repair it myself, though I'd prefer to pay a bit extra and have someone who works on phones day in day out do it. But I refuse to get raped by Vodacom and their dodgey service practices

Slipped out my pocket onto concrete, was getting out the car
So it was about half a meter off the ground

First thing I'm doing after getting this phone fixed is buying a screen protector... this phone is VERY fragile

Half meter, ive seen videos of guys dropping it from two meters multiple times without a scratch.

That said i always have my phone in my doors side pocket.

I have had no battery drain with 3g on, i get around 3 days, if i use it chronically i get about 1.5 days. I do have location off thou

they're lucky
I love this phone but the glass is very sensitive and I think a cover is a necessity

Will the wireless charging still work with a cover on? This is the only reason I haven't bought a cover yet.

semaphore is right. Guys have done a drop test from 2 meters without suffering a scratch.

It's not just me:

920 screens breaking is common (knowing this, I'd still buy it again though, as its an amazing phone, I just wont get naked again)

I dont know about wireless charging with a cover, sorry man

I thought the 920 is much like the 900, physically. My L900 is the toughest phone I've ever had ... three times it has jumped out of my hands onto tar or paving, once from well over 2m while taking a snap with arms fully extended vertically ( I'm 6'3"). All 3 times the SIM popped out, but I can't see a scratch. Black 900.

It fell a few times previously too without a scratch but this time like the OP on the link this last fall was also flush face down onto concrete
I'm really annoyed by it, and cant wait to get it fixed.. Going to fight with Vodacom tomorrow, I honestly dont see why I must pay R2800 for an entire LCD+Digitizer, when its only the Digitizer which costs less than R500 that needs replacing

BATTERY LIFE
Hey Guys, checking feedback from long time users -
How long is your battery lasting on the 920?

I've only done 3 recharges, but at the moment getting only a day with a couple hours of music, phone call or two, some pics and uploading to facebk, messaging on whatsapp , and 2 emails syncing.

With Battery saver on (all extra connections off) it seems to last much longer (says days), but then no syncing emails or whatsapp.?

Does normal usage battery life get better after more usage/charges or did anyone do a hard reset? (seems like many peeps did that overseas with good results)

OTHER FEEDBACK

Have not had any random reboots :)

If anyone is interested found out that contacts on skydrive auto sync and auto update - so if anyone wants to do large edits on contacts can log in via pc and much easier to edit contact details quickly on a pc :)

Q
Also is there any quick way to get to a contact to call/contact - currently seems to take 3/4 step process? (i think people/search/type/select),
Any way to autolink contacts? (facebook contact and phonebook contact need to manually linked it seems)

Battery life is a bit sporadic at the moment as i'm still getting to know the phone and playing around with it quite a bit. With normal use I should be getting about 1.5 days with Location services off. I have picked up yesterday that while playing some online games with the charger plugged in, the phone consumes more battery power than what the charger can provide. Was playing a game for a couple of hours with the charger plugged in. Started playing with 50% charge, plugged in charger, played for a few hours, unplugged charger, battery level at 5%.

I had one reboot. Annoying when the phone is in your pocket and you don't know its off.

I did not like the fact that when you press the dialer and start typing in the contact on the keypad, it did not automatically filter through your contacts for matched ones. Typing 232 should start filtering contact like Adam, Beck, etc. i downloaded RapDialer which solved this. Only issue with RapDialer is that you cannot dial service commands like *111# as these need to done through the phone dialer itself.

What phone are you mainly using Park@82 - the 920 or S3 - didn't you just win the GalaxyS3:D?

Any feedback on battery for 920 from my earlier post is welcome (and quicker contacting) :)

S3, sorry don't want to derail, just wanted to comment that I see nowhere near 6 days on mine. The norm on smart phones these days seems to be 1 day with email syncing, wifi + 3G etc. enabled.
