Luno Support and Queries Thread

Hi guys, i sent an email to Luno on the 20th of December regarding the Segwit 2X hard fork and the issuing of B2X coins in proportion to all BTC holders which is the deal from BTC, but Luno would have to action this for us... this is the response i received today: "The SegWit2X fork has been suspended and is unlikely to happen. For more information please visit our blog https://www.luno.com/blog/en/post/bitcoin-segwit2x-fork"

However the official website, twitter account and world coin index is already indicating otherwise http://b2x-segwit.io/news/ , https://www.worldcoinindex.com/coin/segwit2x, https://www.coinstaker.com/segwit2x-bitcoin-hard-fork/

The 2X fork hasn't happened. There are rumours of 2X re-emerging, in which case we'd follow our hard fork policy, linked below.

My question was simple. Is it the free coins you are after, and the answer is yes.

The fact that they are not giving the B2X coins (like the BTG coins also not given), does not mean they are not aware of it. They gave a reason to the tune of they are evaluating the situation, or something like that.

thanks for the reply,

The Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold forks were both HARD FORKS, meaning it is incompatible and backwards incompatible to the original BTC, and Luno clearly stated it would not support the BTG because of this reason, Segwit however is an improvement/soft fork by the original BTC which IS backwards compatible with BTC. to re-iterate BCH and BTG are pretty much Altcoins based on some of the original code of BTC before their hard fork and have nothing to do with the Dev teams of BTC unlike B2X. i would never expect "free" BCH or BTG from Luno!!!! hahahaha

@lunomoney:

Re. ETH delays due to 'blockchain congestion':

On other platforms at the same time I was getting ETH in & out with regular gas fees (23-50 gwei).
If you're using some minimal gas fee - I'd rather have the option to manually increase it. I don't want to wait 4 hours for ETH to get from A to B.

(Are you still posting here? Haven't seen you in a while.)

I'm still around, I've taken some leave and had my inbox disabled.
Blockchain delays are out of our hands, as is the case for everyone else. We consistently use a higher gwei price over the recommend price. Currently the recommend gwei per TX is 50, we're including 75 in our sends.

Unfortunately we don't have an option to manually set fees for on-chain transactions for either BTC or ETH.

SegWit has already been implemented on Bitcoin, this was a soft fork. The hard fork part of the 2X proposal was increasing the block size to 2MB which was called off.

Not sure if I'm understanding you though?

Ah well - your gas fees seem fine.
Thx anyway and welcome back - hope you had a good break and all the best for 2018.

1) please post any official sources which indicate B2X was not launched on the 28th of December

2) what happened to your much NEWER B2X fork policy issued on the 8 November https://www.luno.com/blog/en/post/bitcoin-segwit2x-fork.... since this is not a HARD FORK, Luno stated: You don’t need to withdraw your Bitcoin from Luno before the fork. We will give you access to both currencies. We will add the new currency to your Luno wallet after the fork, the same amount of Bitcoin you had in your wallet at the time of the fork.

Bitcoin2X or SegWit2X?
Regardless, here's some reading:

The only thing I can find on Bitcoin2X is this http://b2x-segwit.io/
I have no idea if they've forked off on their given date. Either way, the same policy would apply for any hard forks.

Also, SegWit2X was inititally proposed to be a hard fork, with the activation of SegWit as a soft fork and 2MB block size increases as a hard fork. As mentioned in my previous post, the block size increase never took place.

You confusing the Segwit2x fork with B2X, they are not the same.
B2X happened and seems dodgy, with an unknown development team.
Segwit2x never happened!

Hi Hendrix, no confusion, here is an article off Bitcoin.com an astute outlet for crypto news and who's CEO is Roger Ver (Major player in BTC and BCH)... https://news.bitcoin.com/pr-the-segwit-2x-fork-has-been-successfully-launched-on-december-28th/ whether it was dodgy or not the question must be asked, and to call that team dodgy when BCH has 6 developers compared to BTCs 150 and some of the altcoins which like Tron get a $16 Billion evaluation without any code or platform... which is a bit ironic to say in the world of crypto and ICOs... nonetheless we talking about the biggest crypto here and we all like meh it kinda maybe happened and when there site is saying: "Just a few days ago, a successful launch of the fork took place, and the owners of Bitcoin received pleasant bonuses to the New Year — the coins of Satoshi." plus a successful test of the lightning network has taken place

I want my B2X, "dodgy team" or not,

Roger Ver is a convicted criminal. He has next to zero respect in the bitcoin community.

Regarding your B2X. You will most likely never see it. You should have had your coins in a private wallet before the fork. You could then claim them yourself using your private key.
Luno may (highly unlikely) decide to claim on behalf of their clients. This will only happen if it's proven to be 100% legit. But right now. Looks dodgy.

24h

Sorry for the Nuub Question.

How long is the wait time before you should submit a support ticket?
I sent money from Luno - Binance but its "Still pending" 24 hours later. i used the Image scan code so human error is not at play here...
( i have sent many times before but never had to wait this long)

Surely they have a Timeline escalation matrix of some sort i cant be waiting two weeks for my funds to arrive.

I've tried to withdraw from my luno wallet into my local currency account but it keeps telling me "invalid account recipient" this is the same account I used to register and deposit help me out please
