Luno Support and Queries Thread

Sent some Ethereum from Luno across to Binance this morning.

Problem 1: The transaction showed pending for about 5 hours. It now shows complete on the Luno homescreen, but if you go into the transactions page it still shows as pending/sending?
Problem 2: Nothing shows up at all on etherscan or Binance

How long will this take to resolve itself?

Cancelled my transaction. Luno is having issues. I'll monitor their status page to see whether it's been resolved. They claim blockchain congestion.

same thing happened to me, a friend of mine gifted me some eth I thought I'd try and get it on binance asap, its been "processing" since 9 this morning

SO we should basically avoid ETH for any transfers next few hours to days. ANy idea on average cost of sending BTC over? and timeframe too?

Be very carefull here. I paid R230 the two days ago for a transfer to another BTC exchange. Wasn't looking at the fees when i hit send (we call these school fees)

@lunomoney:

Re. ETH delays due to 'blockchain congestion':

On other platforms at the same time I was getting ETH in & out with regular gas fees (23-50 gwei).
If you're using some minimal gas fee - I'd rather have the option to manually increase it. I don't want to wait 4 hours for ETH to get from A to B.

(Are you still posting here? Haven't seen you in a while.)

@lunomoney: Please clear your PM inbox.

Tried to get in touch.
Will be sad if you've decided not to post / participate here anymore.

He is still on leave I think.

Having issues sending ETH from HitBTC to Binance as well, I think its congestion coupled with too low fees.

Sent ETH from luno to binance at 15:30. Took 8 minutes

Hi guys, i sent an email to Luno on the 20th of December regarding the Segwit 2X hard fork and the issuing of B2X coins in proportion to all BTC holders which is the deal from BTC, but Luno would have to action this for us... this is the response i received today: "The SegWit2X fork has been suspended and is unlikely to happen. For more information please visit our blog https://www.luno.com/blog/en/post/bitcoin-segwit2x-fork"

However the official website, twitter account and world coin index is already indicating otherwise http://b2x-segwit.io/news/ , https://www.worldcoinindex.com/coin/segwit2x, https://www.coinstaker.com/segwit2x-bitcoin-hard-fork/

What are you expecting from Luno? You want your free money?

Hi Slootvreter,

Can you elaborate on the question you seemed surprised? Are you a holder of BTC in Luno? or a holder of BTC?

but yes indeed, its not free money its the rule and offering from Bitcoin to BTC holders, if you read the links i listed you will see this clearly and to further clarify Luno stated on their website that they will be giving us our free money as you put it, i quote: "You don’t need to withdraw your Bitcoin from Luno before the fork. We will give you access to both currencies. We will add the new currency to your Luno wallet after the fork, the same amount of Bitcoin you had in your wallet at the time of the fork" (https://www.luno.com/blog/en/post/bitcoin-segwit2x-fork )

Now there response isn't indicated they don't want to give our B2X coins (free money) its suggesting they are not aware of the fork.

Side note- if you don't want your free B2X you can give it to me ;)

My question was simple. Is it the free coins you are after, and the answer is yes.

The fact that they are not giving the B2X coins (like the BTG coins also not given), does not mean they are not aware of it. They gave a reason to the tune of they are evaluating the situation, or something like that.

I'm back :)
My inbox is open again, I'll go through the last few pages and get some responses out.

A few general things that's relevant for the last 2 weeks:

  • Both BTC and ETH transactions have been slow due to Blockchain delays
  • BTC fees have been and are still quite high
  • Withdrawals have not been processed on public holidays, this was broadcast via the app and our status page. Deposits may also have been slow should you have made the deposit outisde of your banks cut-off time or on a public holiday
  • We had some performance issues on 24 December during the early hours of the morning. The cause was identified and preventative measures put in place to avoid this happening again

I have tried EVERY avenue i can think of and came across this thread by chance :

Luno - please - I need to get back into my account - its been 2 weeks now and I'm locked out due to 2FA issue between my old and new phones. I logged a ticket ( #314799 ) to have my 2FA removed - sent a photo and ID info as per your requested email, but I see 2FA is still enabled on my account.

Please can someone look into this.

You will also see many unhappy people posing on your FB page also, so this is not only a plea from my side but on their behalf too.

Looks like this is resolved.
Please save your recovery keys :)

Yes make 100 sure ,entered an s instead an x in the BX no on the 8dec2017 and still have no recognition from Luno, think thats very poor .Even had Lunomoney on this site put in a word in on my behalf, sent in tickets297551,300514,and on 18th Dec 318621.No joy, getting worried that they have banked my money to pull a Steinhoff on us.

Your deposit was allocated on 3 Jan 2018, you used the incorrect ref# (BS instead of BX).

I'm having the same issue, trying to send ETH to Binance. Gets stuck on Processing, this morning I had the option to cancel the transaction, so I did. Trying again now.

QR code scan also doesn't seem to work.

Any TX that's marked as pending on your account should be able to be cancelled without an issue.
Are you still having issues using QR codes? I'm not aware of any widespread issues, mind sharing a bit more detail here?

Seems sending Eth is always an issue in Luno, tried to send some in December and that took more than 36 hours. Tried to send some now more than 2 hours ago and only says processing...

Not necessarily the case. I'm unaware of a case where ETH sends have been delayed due to reasons under our control.
Both yesterday and December have been related to severe Blockchain delays.

There have been pretty severe delays on the Ethereum Blockchain, this should be mostly resolved today though.
This is quite an interesting read and still valid today https://medium.com/eidoo/cryptokitties-why-the-ethereum-blockchain-is-congested-ecb219fd0fe0
Did you see my later post?

It's funny...I posted that query yesterday regarding ethereum. While I was waiting I sent eth from another private wallet A to private wallet B. Then sent that eth to Binance. All in under 5 minutes with regular gas fees.

Ended up taking around 4 hours for the luno transaction to clear.
What's your default gas fee (gwei) for ETH transactions?
