Luno Support and Queries Thread

which one launched in ZA first?

there is your answer
FFS you're making some random argument now.

Binance is one of the worlds largest exhanges and still undergoes maintenance.
My point was that a newer exhange like VALR is bound to experience teething problems.

Dafuq ZA has to do with anything is beyond me. Please just make a point instead of asking rhetorical questions the whole time.

Haha I'm also lost on his train of thought... Tbh don't really care..

I think VALR maintenance explanation is actually pretty reasonable compared to every other maintenance that just report the same generic bs so for this specific case there is no reason to believe it is anything other than what VALR stated.

A double deposit crediting bug is much easier to resolve by complete shutdown than to allow everyone to continue with their trading and withdrawals etc. while you try to figure out exactly who got double credited without them managing to withdraw the double funds in the process.

This is exactly my point instead of just saying maintenance they disclosed all this. Have no idea what his issue is. Never had issues with them don't get what he is getting at anyway... I'll continue to use them when I need to sell again.

each exchange, regardless of experience and size, have to open bank accounts and set up payment mechanisms from scratch in each country they operate in, in order to give the optimal local experience

so yeah it makes a massive difference when one was operating since December 2018 and the other only from 2020

a ~2 year head start means the "teething problems" excuse has expired imo, that is the point, frankly I'd rather trade on Binance if I was trading actively

Just chill... Even binance zar has been down for almost 2 months now.... I'm sure valr is hiding something

Don't know what you're on about. Most exchanges have maintenance and some even for half a day.

On another note has anybody tried instant payments to an exchange? I know Capitec had some problems with references when they launched it.

Yes I did from fnb to binance and it worked great when it was up. I actually opened a standard bank account as that's the default crypto exchange banker to ensure speedy deposit

So far I've only seen interest in the low single percentile range on crypto. If anything fiat still outperforms it. High interest on crypto is simply not something that's sustainable.

I dread the day that DeFi implode. It will make the ICO implosion look like a heaven and I see no way around DeFi not imploding possibly as soon as we make a new ATH on Bitcoin if not sooner.

I have seriously been considering buying up some usdt and popping it into binance savings at 10% an annum

Oh yes I fully expect it won’t be very high and likely still beaten by the average bank account.

But some interest is better than no interest if you plan to HODL so it’s a good incentive.

We’re thrilled to introduce our brand new fee structure for trading on the Luno Exchange.

You’ll now pay significantly lower taker fees, no matter the volume you trade every month. A lot less. The highest fees that any customer will pay per trade will be 0.10%, while the lowest will be 0.03%.

This is something a bit different.
