Hi

I recently switched to MWeb uncapped 4Mbps while (luckily) still keeping my 120GB Afrihost capped account.

I don't understand why, when I connect with Afrihost and using a download manager (not torrents) I can download from the US at 700kb/s and with M-web I only get 97kb/s. (tested today 10 mins apart) I do know that this is rate limited to 4Mbps but it still seems like a bit of a rip-off? If this low speed continues I am going to cancel my M-web account and revert back to Afrihost even though it is double the price.

I am in the Claremont area in Cape Town.

MwebGuy? Can you help?

Hi ruan567

Tell me what sorts of downloads are you doing when you get those speeds ?
Send me your MWEB details please.

For what it's worth, I'm in the Fish Hoek area and have been experiencing slow speeds on 4MB MWEB uncapped for a while now. Pulling down android SDK from Google is going at 14 KB/s. It was like this for the past few days as well. Max speed I've gotten from anywhere is 68 KB/s.

I have sent you a PM with my details, although the sort of download should not really matter IMHO - I can understand if torrent traffic gets limited but http/https should never be.

Im in claremoon too and Im getting 1 meg on a 4 meg line on both international and local. Seems to have started 30 mins ago for me.

*Edit: Seems to be an Mweb problem. My afrihost prepaid a/c gives me 4meg download speeds on the line

Earlier this month I tried to download Black Mesa (not through Steam), but had to switch over to my other ISP.
Then I tried to download another game (this time via Steam), but again it's running at 1/3 of the 440KB/s it should be.
Slowest ISP I have ever used. My other ISP is always fast. How can they get it right?

also having issues with 4mb account, started a few hours ago.
speeds average 100kb/s on http..youtube buffering even after repeated rebooting of PC and modem.

it was all fine up until this afternoon.

MwebGuy has refreshed my account but it did not work. He promised to try and get to the bottom of this - I will let you guys know if it comes right then maybe he can apply the same fix for you.
