Hello

One of the 2 ports on my Mac does not charge or connect. Any advice appreciated. Based in CT.

Many thanks

Many recycling companies will scrap your Mac for you.

Have you tried rebooting it? I’ve experienced a similar phenomenon with my m1 air and that fixed it. IIRC the power management is reset when it boots.

Reset SMC/PRAM?

Otherwise you will still have one left.

Doesn't work like that on the M1's.

I've experienced this on two different M1 MBAs and rebooting worked every time.

Thanks everyone. Have tried rebooting without success. Will ask the iStore for advice.

Hopefully you are insured and it's covered, Macbook logic boards are often near the cost of a whole new Macbook.

What did you put in it?

I once connected a powered usb accessory for serial port devices to my USB-C (not M1, Intel Mac) and the Mac said it is disabling the port due to a potential overvoltage from the device.

The catch was - it did NOT work for 4 reboots and 4 days. I was about to take it in for repairs and suddenly it just resumed working and has been perfect ever since. Its like it needed time to recover.
