It's not overheating since it gets really hot at the back when I have games going, and it's relatively cool now. Every now and again it'll go into sleep mode (so not switching off as such) while I'm in the middle of something.
I don't know how relevant it is, but a while ago my dad pointed out the slight vibrations the Mac gives off due to it not being earthed (supplied plug is 2-prong). It might be my imagination, but when I feel it now they feel much stronger...
