Mac OSX Lion.

Need to upgrade my MBP urgently but i don't have ADSL. Anyone around PTA-EAST willing to share a .dmg?

LOL - same here.....

Can't access my bootcamp Win 7 installation - oh well, create a new bootcamp install this weekend....

Buy parallels. Works like a charm. Still need to test it on lion though

FileVault had some issues on my installation.

Did a clean install on 13" 2010 Macbook Pro. Enabled FileVault which rebooted the machine and started encrypting the disk. Few hours later it popped up with a message saying that the encryption failed and that FileVault needs to be turned off. Tried to turn it off but it was impossible due to more errors.

Eventually wiped the drive, did the Opt + Cmd + p + r zap and performed a clean install from usb. Enabled FileVault again and its working now. Performance is decent too.

Had two crashes while looking around in the networking section of the System Preferences pane but I have not encountered any show-stoppers.

It isn't. It's the first thing I disabled.

Used to iPad, so the SL scrolling on Magic Trackpad feels inverted ... Think I'm gonna like Lion's scrolling

Downloaded earlier, made sure backups are done etc., ie got everything ready to just click install .... And then ... Verifying ... Couldn't verify, it seems your download got corrupted .... Aaargh, here we go, another 3.5 Gb over WiMax 512k, so should only finsh tomorrow morning.

Lion is super cool, new mail client is really nice they got rid of all the clutter and made it iPad like. Loving the new safari as well. Seems most OS X apps are Lion compliant, no need for recodes and downloads of different versions..

Really quick too on the macbook air!!!

Did a clean install of Lion using a USB flash drive, not quite sure why people were saying it had to download a whole bunch of extra stuff to do this. It took maybe a minute or 2 to download a few things and installed very quickly. Must be honest, in terms of the visual aspect, it looks pretty much the same as Snow Leopard, however, my laptop is running much cooler than it was before and also seems to be slightly quicker with opening apps and doing general stuff.

For those wondering, I have the entry-level 64Gb Macbook Air and I am much happier with Lion on it than I was with Snow Leopard. So for those worrying that it might strain the laptop and it's basic specs, think again! I am quite sure having done a clean install made a huge difference too, but either way, I couldn't be more happy. Just remember to disable natural scrolling, I find it WEIRD...

I had 2 download failures and thought it was a server problem. But then our ADSL connection went down for 24 hours. The download last night went like a bomb and have now kept a copy on an ext HD for the future. Thank goodness for Mweb uncapped.:D

Apple needs to enable/disable restore on launch on a per app basis. I have no need for it in an app like safari but in other apps it's quite handy.

I agree - I don't want Preview to do that for example. I just found a tip for exactly that! http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_tame_six_os_x_lion’s_early_problems

First you’ll need to know exactly which app you want to kill this feature on -- we’ll use Preview as an example, since it may not be desirable to have it restore documents in most cases. Fire up Terminal again and use the following command without quotes: “defaults write com.apple.Preview NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -int 0”. For other applications, simply replace “Preview” with the name of the app -- when in doubt, visit your Preferences folder to confirm how the app name appears in the “com.apple.XXXX” file this is modifying.

Only thing I don't like is I can't go back and forward in Firefox anymore using 2 finger swipe on my magic mouse. :(

That is now assigned to mission control.

Awesome, thanks!

Now if only I could do the same thing for iOS Safari. :o
I like the multitasking - but yeah.

Safari is the best on Mac right now - try Safari 5.1 - the gestures are so fun!

I just downloaded it in 13min and in the process of installing it.
You have to love University uncapped internet.
