Mac RAM

Hii. Btw, if i were to buy, for my mac, some additional RAM, for example Kingston (from this link: http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?sea...ional+ram&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0). It's just that the Apple based is far too expensive for me, and this Kingston stuff is only £14.99. would just like to know if it is okay for Mac... I have a Macbook (late 2007) by the way.

Yes, the kingston RAM is fine to use. I use kingston RAM all the time for my apple RAM upgrades. Just make sure you get the correct Kingston apple equivalent RAM for your Macbook. You can go to the Kingston website to check for the correct part number. If I remember correctly the kingston part number for the macbook ram is kta-mb667/1g for the 1gb RAM chips and kta-mb667/2g for the 2gb ram chips.

Prices are from cyberdyne in JHB. Ask them to check compatibility and part nos. I ended up getting a quote from them, took the prices to the local computer store and the guy matched the prices.

Apple computers use normal RAM. No need for "Apple RAM" which is just ordinary RAM with a markup.

The Macbook needs 200-pin DDR2 SODIMM RAM, which is laptop memory. Your link has a bunch of desktop memory for sale (240-pin). Just get hold of 200-pin DDR2 SODIMM RAM.

Syn... is right. I used normal Samsung notebook RAM PC5300 SODIMM in my Macbook 2007. It works perfectly.

Hynix RAM for my mac mini (years ago, rev 1) was R399 while Apple was R1699 excl fitting. Got the Hynix. And guess what was inside my mac when I opened it up? Hynix! And what Core wanted to sell me for R1699? Hynix! And what has been in my mini for R399 since 2005 (I think) from Matrix? HYNIX!

Shame on Apple!
