Hi

I need help here. I am trying to share my folders on my mac but the other pc's in the house do not see the folders even tho they are shared on the mac.

I am reading that I need to log in to the mac but when I go to the pc in network then it does not bring up the login dialog box.

Anybody know how I can get the pc to authenticate I am running vista on the laptop.

Google is not been my friend this morning unless I am using the incorrect search string.

regards

Eon

ok an update I can get there now but when I type in the username and password it tells me that it is incorrect username and password. any updates on that?

Check System Preferences - Sharing and make sure that Remote Log-in and File Sharing is enabled.

not sure, try creating another user like test password test and login with that one.
You do need a password btw.

What version of windows are you running on the PC?

ok tried bonjour but it is still not working created a new user called sharing and put a passoword in but when I try get in from windows it still does not allow me.

and with bonjour it only shows to connect to printers but there is no printers on the mac.

How do I get bonjour to see the files that is the question I am a pc fundi not a mac fundi.

I am using mac os x 10.5.2 you got any more ideas?

Try turning on xgrid under System Preferences - Sharing

I am running windows xp and vista does that help at all?
And just to be sure you have SMB sharing enabled with the appropriate user account selected.

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy

Local Policies -> Security Options
"Network security: LAN Manager authentication level"
Change to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated".

ok still no luck think i am just a little dumb but there is no local security polices under control panel

think cos of me using windows vista basic.

it came with the laptop

any more ideas where I could find this?

one of the reasons I hate vista

Why dont you control the Windows from the Mac?, just install VNC on the Window's and then you can control them, copy files to them, everything...
