Macbook Air Battery Life

Anyone have a macbook air could tell me how much battery life they are getting?

I am getting around 4.5 hours on around 50% brightness; browsing the web and watching some youtube videos.

if you're using cellc speedstick.. its probably chowing 100% CPU so that'll decrease it. ; )

Together we can unite to crush Flash! I've got Flashfrozen installed to warn me when flash is sucking up too many CPU cycles and killing my battery.

I have flashblock installed for Chrome, that way I can only play things when I need to.

I'm currently getting less than 3 hours usage out of my Macbook Air. This is just browsing the web on 50% brightness. Do you think there is something wrong with the battery?

That does sound rather low, my 2009 MacBook Pro doesn't have SSD, yet it still holds its charge better than yours

I also get less than 3 hours on my 11" Air. if you have a 13" you should be getting more.
Need to investigate deinstalling the flash as per this thread.

That doesn't sound good at all. I get more than 3 hours even when running win7 in bootcamp...

I get about 4.5 hours on my 13" 2011 MacBook Air. Take yours to be checked out. They should give you a new battery.

And that's with a VM open all the time

Problem is I bought it overseas and I don't have proof of purchase to show them - guess I'm pretty screwed.

Oh dear! I remember when this started with I want at all cost and any means.
Batteries are consumable items and only covered for one year. You'll only get it replaced if there is an extended warranty program e.g. It swelling or within the warranty.


I have a Early 2008 Macbook which still gives me a little over two hours. iStat menus says that I've charged it for 1442 cycles and the health is 86%.

I have however since I bought the laptop only charged it when it was completely drained until full.

Why?

Lithium-ion polymer batteries pack in a higher power density than nickel-based batteries. This gives you a longer battery life in a lighter package, as lithium is the lightest metal. You can also recharge a lithium-ion polymer battery whenever convenient, without the full charge or discharge cycle necessary to keep nickel-based batteries at peak performance. (Over time, crystals build up in nickel-based batteries and prevent you from charging them completely, necessitating an inconvenient full discharge.)

If you use flash or download video and run lots of apps or background software the life of the battery goes to 2 hours with no doubt. Each Apple Laptop Model has different battery capacity and this is another thing to consider as well.

Mine will lasts 6 hours with the 80% brightness, it's enough for the daily using...
