Has anyone had a battery replaced recently on a 2017 15" MBP or similar and what was the cost/turnaround time?
Relatively easy? I’m not sure if you’ve looked at the ifixit guide for that model but I’d imagine it’s beyond the skill set of most. They also claim it takes 1-3 hours so your 15 minutes seems a little off to me.Contact MacWave they did mine but it's relatively easy to do yourself. Turn around time should be abt 15 min, plus courier time depending on where you are.
I just got this warning on my MacBook Pro 2019, I am getting a new one I was hoping to get a new one next year. Will my MacBook Pro 2019 still work? I use it all day everyday im also currently very busy with work I cant have the battery stop working. Has this happened to anyone else?

Battery replacement costs for Macs are ridiculously expensive. If you're technically inclined, you can do it yourself in an hour or two for the cost of just the battery and some inexpensive tools. Macs can last for years more with a degraded battery, the only time to be concerned is if there is any flexing or bulging to the underside of the Mac, or around the trackpad. A swelling battery is an imminent fire risk.
Oh, and avoid the iStore in SA. The guys in there don't know what they are talking about, a sure sign that their repair team is as incompetent. Rather find a competent independent tech person to repair.
I specifically recommended SA Computers as they are the level of technical that can do board level repairs,
Yeah and especially the fact they don't have anything remotely Apple or Mac in their name.Good to know, thanks. Didn't know about them. These small independents can be gems, but since they lack presence on the ol' Google search results, often fly under the radar.
Most of the reputable places virtually fit the battery for free and you also get a guarantee that means if there is an issue you just take the whole machine back, it’s not worth doing it yourself. And 3rd battery batteries can be total sht, you have to buy one from a reputable supplier and that goes back to point one.Battery replacement costs for Macs are ridiculously expensive. You missed 30% off on BF on Amazon... they had some crazy deals.Im assuming now is a bad time of the year to buy and M3 or an M4 because Christmas is around the corner.

What do you mean? Bad in terms of pricing?Im assuming now is a bad time of the year to buy and M3 or an M4 because Christmas is around the corner.
Santa might bring one? What do you mean? Bad in terms of pricing?
What did you decide on?
Don’t know how true it is, but a sales consultant in one of the iStores told me the other day that it costs R7,000 to replace an M1 MacBook Air’s battery
