MacBook running slow

I refer you back to post #9. ;)

You've already got 2/3rds of what you require.

Performance wise running on an SSD now if blazing fast, suppose I would see a small hit in performance if I was to replace it with hybrid?

You'll take a pretty big performance hit replacing your ssd with a hybrid. I've got the seagate momentus hybrid in my computer and compared to a ssd it's slow. Remember that hybrid you asked about probably only has 8GB worth of ssd in it.

A fusion drive on the other hand loads your OS and regularly used apps onto the SSD first, then anything else that wont fit gets put on the hdd portion. My MBP boots as fast as it did when I only had the ssd in it - likewise with most of my apps.

FWIW my hybrid drive forms part of my fusion drive. :)

iTunes library currently sitting at 350gb and sluggish, current setup is 120gb ssd + 500gb 5400rpm into fusion drive.

I recently upgraded 4gb ram to 16gb ram for R960 from amazon.us

Wondering if the next upgrade would by 480gb ssd from amazon as well, courier to door from the us - PNY CS1311 480 GB 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive SSD7CS1311-480-RB
R2027

Seems like decent upgrade?

On my Mac Mini, the iTunes library is just over 13TB (whole hog: Music, Movies, TV Shows, iTunes U, ...) and it performs quite well. Meaning I don't think it's iTunes, well certainly not the only reason...

I reinstalled the OS on my mackbook a week ago. Gave it new life. It was sluggish.

After 3 years of os upgrades, me installing dodgy stuff, and infecting it with Parrelles and Windows 8, a rebuild was due.

It's like a new machine now. But I am sure between Apple and myself we will hammer it into submission again :)

Disabled many smart playlists.
Disabled genius.
Ended up rebuilding iTunes Music Library.xml and its a low faster now.

gearing towards a re-install though as that usually fixes most things.

Well the iTunes update solved everything with speed, its lightning fast now with music library of over 200gb.
