MacOS Monterey

Family plan.
Yeah with ±10tb that’s not going to work.
365 Business might work out better for you but you’d need to compare holistically with your current requirements and future needs, cost/ability to retrieve also capability to download.

The cheapest license to offer unlimited storage is One for Business Plan 2, you’d need 5 to make you applicable for 5TB/user.
At 90% usage MS will bump you up to 25TB a user. That excludes the 1TB of SharePoint storage you also get.

Unlike OneDrive personal which the client only allows one account, you can sync unlimited business accounts so you can sync all 5 accounts or create a shared folder in the other accounts shared with one main user which lets you use their OneDrive storage so your user limit is still 5TB but you have access to 25TB.

You can test it out for free using the Microsoft 365 Developer Program

I've started noticing performance issues with Monterey, occasional hiccups and slow down.

Definitely didn't have issues with BigSur

So AWS S3 Glacier Deep Archive you could literally host it in Cape Town at $0.0018 per GB and you only pay per use not the usual bucket prepaid nonsense.
Not bad but there are cheaper locations such as US East where it's $0.00099 per GB and since there's no real advantage I can see in storing it in SA I may as well save some $. The trick is uploading it. I've finally finished uploading 500gb to one drive - it would be a pity to have to do that again.

Yeah CPT is still a bit more pricey.

Have a look a Frankfurt or Ireland for closest lowest latency connections possibly in the same pricing.

Ireland has the same US pricing but Frankfurt is on par with Cape Town.

Chances are I'll never need to access the data, and there's no telling what country I would be accessing it from, so I don't think latency is going to make a difference.

You should compare all the factors, a region might be cheaper to store in but more expensive to retrieve etc.

For uploading, when Oracle is finally launched here, you can use their free tier with something like rclone to move the data into AWS.

I’ve noticed my mission control crashing quite often ever since I upgraded to a 14” Macbook Pro, running Monterey in November. Might be related to iTerm or VS Code but not 100% sure - that’s just when I notice it as I generally swipe between browser / vscode / iterm when developing and then suddenly swiping between screens stops working.

I’d then just run killall dock and it would fix it in a few seconds, but still annoying.

Yup, hope the next update addresses some of these issues. I've tried to get a screen grab of when I get a hiccup:

But it's harder than one would think, as it usually happens very quickly

Strange I have yet to experience issues with Mission Control, I also a use iTerm and VS Code.

Only had one hiccup with VS Code was the iOS simulator stalling the first time whilst using Flutter. No problems ever since.

The cheaper the storage the better - on the off chance I need a file I'll gladly pay a little extra.

Just letting you know, I’ve seen people burnt on overlooked costs.
AFAIK no cloud provider has a hard limit, the billing stops when your credit card does.

I appreciate it, thanks.

I'll still have a local copy if I need immediate access to a file. The remote copy is just in case something happens to the local copy and I happen to need it.

People use Mission Control?

I stand astounded.

My bad was thinking of Launchpad.

You sure you aren't confusing Mission Control and Launchpad the second time around? Mission Control is critical for taking stock of multiple windows from the same app, checking how apps are overlapping in the same space and for an overview of your spaces. It's the default 3-finger up gesture on the trackpad is it not? Basically expose but much more useful.

I literally said that I confused the two in the post you quoted.

But no I never use Mission Control either, but I understand that others do.

Launch Control is a pointless and useless feature though.

Assumed it was part of the reply, not an update to your own comment. But yeah, Launch Control sucks. If it wasn't so laggy it might be an alternative to having a loaded up Dock.
