macOS Sonoma

For the first unlock on the MBP M series after power on, is it possible to unlock with Touch ID? Mine forces me to enter the password via the keyboard. It only unlocks via the Touch ID after it wakes up from sleep.

No way around that.

It’s a 48H timeout as well by default before you have to enter your password again.

I am somewhat curious as to where other people's uptime currently sits.

Time since boot: 18 days, 9 hours, 9 minutes

There are [at least?] two simple ways of checking.

1) Open a terminal window and type "uptime" at the prompt.
2) System settings > General > About > System report > Sotfware...

MacBooks actually have a good suspend/hibernate unlike most Windows laptops I'be used. You can sleep a MacBook for weeks and it will still have power after you wake it.

MacBook Pro is at 2 days because I have to restart it every time I get the no internet issue by disconnecting from my work VPN. But the Air is sitting at 19 days

Hence my earlier bewilderment.

Why can't you disconnect without rebooting? What VPN is it?

It's something like that. It's not that I can't disconnect. It's that sometimes, seemingly random, my internet will stop working and nothing apart from a reboot fixes it. It happens often when the laptop goes into sleep while being connected to the VPN. Think it's related to AnyConnect as I've had this issue across different laptops, ISPs and MacOS versions. Only happens every now and then but it's reason no.1 I use Amphetamine to stop my laptop from sleeping during work hours.

Interesting.

And turning your WiFi off and back on after a minute doesn’t resolve it?
