Just took this one with my 50mm f/1.8 (reversed)

(I've heard Chris Marquardt describe this technique many times on his Tips from the Top Floor podcast.)

BTW - great photos guys - keep em coming! :D

The Canon is a lovely little point n shoot and the price is pretty damned good. It takes better pics than my little Fuji S5600 does for sure although a lot of that has to do with the minimum focus distance. Fuji is 5cm and the Canon is 1cm. Crazy.

Nice pic Bwana. The beetle looks speedy :D

A dedicated macro lens is always best (I use a Sigma 105), but you can get screw on filters such as the close up lenses on this page - and of course, reversing the lens as bwana mentioned also works.

Thanks - I just need to work on my technique - there's no aperture control and focusing is done by moving the camera closer or pulling it back.

Mmmm eos 400d *insert drool emoticon*

Very pretty. I hear rumours the 5D Mk II is coming out soon so hopefully the 5D prices will drop so much that I can afford one :p

You can always try messing around with a light tent for the macro practicing. Seriously though, check out that photoclub, it's pretty useful for C&C

After my little mishap I have two 400Ds now - might sell one and get a G9 to carry around. :D

My next dSLR will be something like a 5D if Canon makes the effort to catch up to the new Nikons.
