I like the DIY aspect - everything doesnt have to mean major bucks.

What DIY aspect? Care to share

I have a Pentax SFX camera (Dated) with motorized zoom lens 1:3.5-4.5 28-80 + Macro Zoom

Mostly USED ON AUTO, exposure and Zoom.

Care to explain what the numbers on the Macro lenses mean and how to use?
For Example:
Adjustment ring 3.5; 5.6...16; 22; A (red button to move to position A)
Adjustment 28-80 .... MACRO
Adjustment 1 to 5 meter ... to infinity with fixed 28, 50, 80 position markings

Its an old lens I had from way back in my film days that was a combination macro/wide angle that screwed onto the front of another lens. I couldnt find an adaptor to fit it to my current lens so I jury rigged something with hot glue and a broken UV filter.

For Example:
Adjustment ring 3.5; 5.6...16; 22; A (red button to move to position A) - That's Aperture
Adjustment 28-80 .... MACRO - That's focal length
Adjustment 1 to 5 meter ... to infinity with fixed 28, 50, 80 position markings - That's your focus
Aperture - determines how much light gets in
Focal length - determines how near or far away everything looks - 28 - would be wide angle and you move up to 80 objects appear closer.

Saw this guy crawling in my bar last night (after last call) so moved him along outside. He'd moved about 2m by this morning so figured I'd move him into the sun and take some snaps which didnt come out.

By late morning he'd moved out of the sun again (guess he doesnt care for the light/warmth?).
