It part of the Suborder Mygalomorpha. Its fangs are Paraxial, and it has two sets of book lungs. It's not Theraphosidae (Baboon Spiders ie: Tarantula) so it has to be Ctenizidae. But I have no clue otherwise, could be some sort of trap door spider?

Location is also usually very important to work out the species, where was it found? Do you mind if I post those on another forum to check for you?

Found it in the laundry room. I dont think it had been there for too long. Feel free to post the pics wherever you like. :)

The eyes throw me with this one. How far are you from the beach? A Sea-shore Spider is a possibility, but they never leave the high water line. If it was found in the laundry room, it could have been delivered by means of a beach towel???

The the same as my location says - PE

We're about 100m from the sea but there are a couple of roads in the way. Havent been to the beach in a while though. From the looks of it the ants had only recently discovered it.

Macro with N97
blomson2.jpg
ISO 200 | 1/1000000s | f/2.8 | Nokia N97

Had my N97 for a few days now, decided to play with the camera in the backyard. The macro mode is a little better than on other 5megapixel Nokia phones but I have a strong feeling I'm going to miss the Xenon flash of my old N82. I also think the exposure time is recorded with a couple of extra zeros !

Nice shot :)

Looks like your exposure is being recorded in milliseconds and not seconds :D

Thanks, thats a logical explanation :p
I am really impressed with the phone, and very glad I immediately updated it to V20 seeing as though it gets a lot of flack in V12 guise.

The Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens looks like a relatively inexpensive way to get into macro photography. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Don't have experience with it, but all the macro lenses that I've handled are super sharp, so expect no different from this one. You can also look at the Sigma 50mm and 70mm if you're still hurting from your recent purchases ;)

Thanks, the 50mm F2.8 EX DG Macro is cheaper than the canon but the 70mm isn't. Thing is I've already got two 50mm lenses.

I prefer a bit of working distance between myself and my subject even with macro. I would be more inclined to go with the 100mm Canon macro or the 150mm Sigma. The 100mm canon also does excellent double duty as a portrait lens, but since you have the 70-200 you probably won't be using it for that purpose.

Kenko Extension tubes

I bought myself some macro extension tubes this week and just wanted to share my results with you guys/gals. The extension tubes allows for great magnification, but is not exactly "mik en druk", it takes a while to get used to them but I think I'm getting better.
