Mags on a car : preview with model

Last time I did mags :

Should have gone with the 17" gold ones - that would have been stupidly wrong

have seen that car and was thinking damn thats ugly :p

j.j ...that rim is nice and yeah 17s in gold would have looked bad ...stock would have been better cos of the lip on the rim and well 5 spoke rims are generally better looking when bigger

lol @ work, have pics at home only

excuses till we forget lol

Is it still around in the Cape area?
Sold it last year June and I kinda miss it.

The only reason I bought that was because the tyres it came out with was severely worn after 33,000km and the handling was absolutely rubbish. It aquaplaned for no reason at all and it really was an accident waiting to happen. I went for the ugliest, cheapest and widest tyres I could get. It really did improve the handling of the car.
They are decent cars and I'd take one over a Hyundai any day but no, not a fan
You're crazy... I'd take a GWM or Chana over a VW any day. Just as long as I don't look like every other Tom, Dick and Harry.

Yup - T5 and not the best photo ... but everyone thinks the wheels come with the car.

I'm not a mag person unless it looks like it should go with the car. In fact, I'f generally try stick to the same brand as the car. My 1st car was a Honda Civic 150i and I bought Vtec mags as they worked well IMO. The next two cars I kept the standard mags as everything else looked added :/

D3x! post some pics of your i20 already...

I wanna see what it looks like

Ah, I see the bias doesn't run in VW circles alone (probably Ford or Toyota ;) ). Seriously tho, that statement alone explains your opinion to me. We think very differently, and IMHO no point even trying to convince you mags/rims on any car is a good thing or even remotely ok.

Again, you couldn't be more wrong. Toyota is right down there with Hyundai in my books and while Ford is a little better I would never buy or recommend one either.

Of course rims are ok and can look good. But trying to make an already ugly and cheap car look better by putting oversized rims on which don't even go with the car is just pathetic. Its a different story if you put OEM or OEM looking mags on which actually go with the car and improve handling but I can promise you that no 17s are going to improve handing on an i20.

I have to laugh every time I see 17s on a Toyota Avanza, I think the i20 could have the same effect on me

I'll never change the mag on my car - they are just so good looking!

But they would look better in gold I think.

Those rims (in their current colour) go nicely with car and look great but that's because they were designed for the car.

True, but I just wish I could have them in gold. See, the thing with gold is its so wrong its almost right, and to me that is what mags should be like, they should be so over the top, but still nice looking in a bad way.

Also Scooby's WRC cars look pretty wicked with their gold mags :)
